Feel free to critique it as you wish. Let me say that I think we will go after a FA on the OL, probably at Guard, but probably not Mankins. Lonyae Miller might be the 3rd RB if we let Barber go. I still want Greg McElroy for the PS, but only as a UDFA. We have 2 Kickers, so don't tell me we will draft one.


1st round...pick 9...Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU, 6'2", 215. Yes, I have a feeling he is going to fall to us at 9 or we trade up to get him. But with the mad dash on QBs shaping up, I expect him to fall. I happen to think he is the best CB to come around in a very long time and a difference maker.

2nd round...pick 41...Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State, 6'6", 295. We cannot keep rolling the dice with 3 Free Agent DEs and expecting them to stick around. We have to draft someone and start building some depth. Here is a guy with great potential. He could even start over Igor. I bring Spears back. No doubt.

3rd round...pick 73...Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU, 6'6", 325. He's a prototypical RT, and will be a 24 year old rookie, but he has great pass and run skills, and is a team leader.

4th round...pick 105...Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina, 6'2", 205. We capitalize on an injury that will push him down Draft boards. This guy fills an immediate need and has unreal potential.

5th round...pick 137...Ahmad Black, SS, Florida, 5'9", 190. The books will say he is too small. The film says his size doesn't matter. This kid is a football player, period. He would be a great steal in the 5th.

6th round...pick 169...Josh Bynes, ILB, Auburn, 6'2", 240. Backup LB depth is a need. Hard to believe we felt overall LB depth was a huge plus for this team going into 2010.

7th round...pick 210...Cecil Shorts III, WR, Mount Union, 6'1", 190. He is a small school weapon who puts up unreal production numbers. A perfect slot WR to develop and a threat in the return game

Matt Reynolds

BYU junior offensive lineman Matt Reynolds today announced he has decided to stay at BYU for his senior season and will not declare for the 2011 NFL Draft.
“I have decided to stay in school and not leave early for the NFL Draft,” Reynolds said. “I feel that staying for another year is best for me and my family. I’m excited to be part of the team again next season and finish my college career with my teammates

Heard Spagnola rave about Heyward and said h should be our #1 pick...but he is not very savvy about the draft I think (he never seems to know any of the prospects).

Isn't Deunta Williams ranked a lot higher than that?

Looks great however after their impressive bowl performances Heyward will go in the late first IMO and Black in the second. Would love this draft.

Seems like a fairly strong class. I think it'll be fairly deep at OL, which is good for us. Doesn't seem to deep for safeties though, unfortunately.

Yeah, but he broke his leg in the bowl game vs TN, so he almost assuredly will slide some.

I think we should be looking to draft a tackle who can play both LT and RT.We have 2 tackles who can play RT in young and Free but have no one to backup Free at LT.If Free goes down then we have a big problem.

would have no problem with that mock;except of course that Reynolds is no longer to be had. We need another tackle so that should be a high priority.

I am a big fan of Heyward, I actually had him as the 2nd round pick in my latest mock as well but changed it to a lineman because I think Ratliff can play end just as well as anyone in the draft, if not better and we need the oline help.

Also, Reynolds is going back for his senior year so he's not going to be available from what I've heard. He actually reminds me a lot of Young.

Deunta Williams, I have a lot of questions about, not even taking his injury into account but at the spot you have him, I think that's a pretty darn good pick, although I'd still like to see what AOA has.

A team captain in 2010, Reynolds has started all 39 games during his three seasons at BYU since coming out of Timpview High School as the Utah Gatorade Player of the Year and a three-time High School All-American. Would be interested to know what you all think of the draft class this year..is it a strong year?

It always depends upon positions. For instance, this is a QB heavy draft.

I think OT and ILB, two areas of our needs, are not though. In fact, I am really not impressed with any of the ILBs. I have one in my mock almost by default because we need someone unless Leon Williams comes back and steps up. If Brooking leaves, we still need one.

Last year I liked the DTs, this year the DEs look better. It really just depends on the position.

Great draft all around if we could land those guys; you'd have to plug someone else in for the OL.

The QB rush in this draft is going to be a chess game come April 29th; with potentially five QB's going high and lots of teams with a need for one to develop, teams are going to be jockeying for position and players who you don't think will be there could very well fall. Peterson is one of them.

If Peterson would fall to us and allow us to trade back in the 1st for Carimi I'd wet myself.
