Some coaches have it and some don't. While we have yet to know how Callahan will deal with play calling duties, we do know that Garrett isn't there yet. A strategic play caller prepares for the unexpected. He welcomes it. For the last several years, the fans have dealt with a static display of sheer inability to flex to the situation. I'm very excited about the possibility of freeing Garrett up to become a true walkaround head coach. This is going to be one of the most interesting seasons in a long time folks! As expected, Jerry has now placed Garret squarely on notice. Will Garrett come out fighting? Absolutely. Competition is the greatest motivator.

Garrett's game management skills are some of the worst I have ever seen, we have literally lost 3-4 games over the last 2 seasons due to Garrett's late game coaching blunders.

Will stripping him of playcalling duties change this? I am not optimistic at all, but I guess it could happen.

After hearing yesterday's news I am more full of optimism than ever before. Jerry has now began to accept some of his not so good decisions as exactly what they are and is doing something "different".

I actually subscribe to a different school of thought on this whole playcalling fiasco. I don't think it's Jerry putting Garrett on notice or sending him a "get it done or else" message. In fact, I think it's just the opposite. I think Jerry realized that Garrett was in over his head and lacked any head coaching experience and, because he is dedicated to grooming Red, he decided to take the load off.

Garrett is a perfect walk around guy. All the players respect him and listen to him. He has rings and carries a certain level of aura around Dallas. I think this is the best thing that could have happened not only for Garrett, but for the Cowboys.

I am very optimistic going forward.

The situation I am most hopeful will improve is to capitalize on successful runs by calling more runs. I have seen this team routinely reel off 5 yard runs consecutively only to follow it up with a passing binge. That and some red zone improvements would make the play caller change worth it. I admit to having my doubts but a guy can hope.

If we don't stay relatively healthy, we may not get to see what true impact the change in play caller really made.

This has been a huge problem for Garrett. No excuses now.

Not defending Garrett on play calling but keep in mind two plays are called in the huddle generally one a run and one a pass. And these can be audibled out of at the LOS by Romo. So because you see two successful runs followed by passes doesn't always mean Garrett moved away from the run. The play actually used is supposed to be a reflection of what the defense is doing.
