Calvin Johnson is considered by many teams to be the best player available in the draft, and the Commanders are smitten with him as well, sources said, mulling over options to trade up to get him (the team has shopped cornerback Shawn Springs to Detroit, which has the second overall pick, again in recent weeks).

Shawn springs is a good corner. He has been a very good player but seriously at this point on the weekend of the draft what kind of value does he hold? A middle 4th at best. Why would anyone with this crop of corners and safeties in the draft give up anything worth anything for springs?

I'm sure Springs would be included with a draft pick swap... I don't know if it would be the 6th pick and Springs for the 2nd pick, but that sounds about right. Think about it from Detroit's perspective. They can trade down, get a CB (they traded Bly), then get Gaines Adams or Amobi Okoye. Pretty good deal for them, but they miss out on Johnson.

I don't know if Millen wants to take Johnson with the fiascos of his tenure. There is some speculation they could take Adams at 2.

I wouldn't like to be facing Johnson twice a year though.

we would have to offer more than our 6th overall ans Springs. They would probably want our 1st rounder next year too, at least.

Do it...give up next years first. I mean, it's not like your team knows how to draft anyway!

Yeah, the Lions will be dying to trade the 2nd pick for the 6th pick and a 32 year old corner who missed 7 games. Springs was a real good corner, but he isn't that good any more, he's old, and he is struggling with injuries. The Commanders would have to throw in all the rest of their first day picks and a 4th too..... oh wait, nevermind...

Keep dreaming Skins, Springs and the 6th for 2nd overall is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Going to take ALOT MORE than a 32 yr old corner that missed like 7 games last year due to injury?

Detroit would have to be freaking ******** to do this trade, seriously.

Let them trade this year's and next year's #1 for him. And pile him in with their overpaid #3 receiver and their overpaid punt returner.

While their defense crumbles even more......

Actually, I don't think it will take TB or Washington much to move into the second slot because Detroit probably wants either Thomas, Adams, or Quinn, and don't want to take any of them at #2 and have to overpay them, yet they don't want to move down where the teams like SF would pay them a goldmine because then they'd miss on the guys they really want.

I see TB and Detroit swapping.

1. Oak...Russell
2. TB...Johnson
3. Cleveland...Peterson, THomas or another slight trade down to let Arizona take Thomas here. Then you'd have
3. Arizona...Thomas
4. Det...Adams or Quinn
5. Cleveland gets Peterson down here.
6. Washington would take Adams or trade down again to #9, letting Miami take Quinn here.
6. Miami takes Quinn.
7. Minny takes DE Anderson or OT Brown
8. Atlanta is locked down on Landry
9. Good spot for WAshington to take Okoye whom they need desperately on defense, imo.

Dangling Shawn Springs won't get much attention if they are truly interested in acquiring Calvin Johnson...:lmao:

They'll definitely need to give more than Springs, possibly their 1st next year.

Though I think CJ is the best player in this draft, I'm not 100% sure how this will help the Skins in the greater sense. They need more playmakers on the d-line and put some pressure on the opposing QB.

The Lions would have to be absolute fools to take that deal... I mean, even Matt Millen isn't that stupid...
