Jason Reid from Washington Post said:
Jason Reid has confirmed that the Commanders and New York Giants will play in the NFL season opener Thursday (Sept. 4) at Giants Stadium. An official announcement is expected to come Monday at the annual owners' meetings in Florida.
Note from the earlier posts that the NFL is considering changing the starting time of this game to 7 p.m., rather than 8:30, because that is the final night of the Republican Convention.

Not much else to add, thought you guys would like to know.

Theres a change. Usually the Skins get a gift of a home game against a losing team for opening weekend.

you guys do remember the skins basically beat themselves in the 1st meeting with the giants last year. than the skins just put a whooping on them the second time with todd collins. i wouldn't be so quick to chalk it up as a W

I think it will depend if they are able to milk anymore wins out of the Sean Taylor tragedy.

well you know that will be the skins gimmick next season.
Nah, I think without Joe Gibbs and Gregg Williams, the new coaches wouldn't be able to do the whole let's do it for Sean thing because they didn't even know Taylor. It may be on the back of some people's mind, but I don't think we are going to keep riding that wave.

Portis said the only TD dance he's going to ever do again is the "letting the bird go" thing he did in remembrance of Sean, which I think is cool. Gotta move on, but gotta remember.

I'll be rooting for the Skins to win opening night. I would love for it to be use beating the Giants, but I'll root for anyone, outside of the Eagles, to beat them in their opener. I just think it will be wonderful if their first night as defending Superbowl Champions they get their butts kicked.
