[sarcasm] They're doing this just to mess w/ Cowboy fans. They know we want Philly to lose next week, so they're benching another one of their high impact free agents just to screw w/ us. It's the same reason they put Portis on I.R. when he had the same injury & surgery as T.O.

Without Lloyd and Archuleta, Washington has no chance against Philly. They just aren't as good. [/sarcasm]

Lloyd signed a six-year, $30 million contract with $10 million guaranteed -- a salary level reserved for only the elite wide receivers in the league.

Considering how much the skins have invested in Moss/ARE/Lloyd check these stats out:

Category....TO..........Moss/Lllod/ARE
Rec...........69...................83
Yds..........915................1081
yds/game..76.2................95.4
avg..........13.3................13.0
TD...............8....................6
20+............15...................14
40+..............2....................5

and for those skins who want to claim that the value of ARE is on punt returns:

29 returns for an avg of 9.9 with a long of 87 and 1TD ranks ARE 20th in the league. If you take out the long (not taking credit away from that return, his avg goes down to 7.1 for 28 returns.

3 six-year contracts totalling $89m and $32.5 in bonuses plus giving up a 3rd (2006) and 4th (2007) round draft pick. Great return on your investment Snyder/Gibbs! That should end all discussion on the comparison of WR corps between the skins and the Cowboys.

Edited: And let's not forget the Archuletta signing 6 year $31m with $10m gauranteed. Archuletta has 56 tackles, 1 sack, 12 pass defended, 0 INTs Forced Fumbles and Fumbles Rec. Now, that is a shrewed investment.

Or how about giving up a 3rd (2007) and 4th (2008) rounder for T.J. Duckett's 23 att for 99 yds 0 TD's and will most likely lose him in FA after the season.

Or how about andre carters 6-yr $30m contact in exchange for 36 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 Pass defended.

The strange thing is that most of the posters on ES.com are taking Lloyd's side over Gibbs.

Shows how far things have fallen when a well documented headache and malcontent like Lloyd gets the benefit of the doubt over "Saint Joe" among Commander fans. I bet Gibbs gets the heck out of Dodge this offseason. He can go back to NASCAR and live a very comfortable life. Things have gotten hostile over there, and he's only destroying his reputation and his mental health sticking around.

Unless things really blow up down the stretch here (and certainly this Lloyd thing is a warning sign), I expect him to come back next year. I don't think he'll slink off after a terrible season like this one.

That said, I see absolutely nothing to suggest that this team will be any better next year than this year. They are way too locked into some of these contracts to simply cut them and sign new people, they have almost no draft, they have no young talent ready to step up outside of possibly Campbell. Saunders vaunted playbook is a joke - forget the team not 'getting it', the playcalling has been shoddy all year. Getting Portis back may help, but their Oline is still old with no depth and no real resources to revamp it.

I hope he stays 2 more years. Outside of one fluky stretch of games at the end of the season last year, the team has been horribly mismanaged. I'd like to see him continue to trade away picks for "proven" guys like Lloyd and really screw them for a good long time.

Holy christ!? That is sad, and I thought the word going around was that we overpaid for Owens?

Does Snyder sign players based on their Madden ratings or something?

Dude that's an awesome post! That goes to show you that building championship teams is through the draft!
