Veteran offensive lineman Jason Fabini plans to re-sign with Washington, a league source said today, providing depth for the offensive line with right guard Randy Thomas still recovering from triceps surgery. Contract terms were not immediately available.

Fabini filled in well while playing guard for the first time in his career last season, so the Commanders hoped he would return to the team next season. Fabini, a tackle for the first nine years of his 10-year career, was thrust into the starting lineup when Thomas tore his triceps in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

I do it for the lulz.

He was better for them last year than I expected. I still find this a little funny.

Which statements were actually said on ES:

A: "Fabini is way better than Leonard Davis, and we didnt pay anywhere near what Dallas did"

B: "I cant believe Fabini wasnt in the pro bowl last yr"

C: "I really think Larry Allen was overrated, he doesnt have anything on Fabini"

D: "Super Bowl!!!!"..."Super Bowl!!!!!"

Me, too... maybe it was the move to guard...

I'm still glad he's playing for them and not us... :D

Probably none of the above. He will slot out as a backup. but I'm sure they'll have him as startng quality depth, or say that they're so deep their backups would be starters elsewhere.

Now, I've talked to some Skins fans about Heyer. You might get the homerism from them there.

How homer-ific are they on Heyer?

Like McQuistan:Cowboys::Heyer:Commanders? (slight homerism)

or

Me proclaiming Stanback is going to wow us next year homer-ific (extreme homerism)?

Maybe a slightly different brand.

Like they view him as an uncovered diamond in the rough, that they were lucky to discover due to injury. Almost like he's Jay Ratliff, except (a) we already knew about Jay Ratliff before Ferguson went down, and (b) I know Jay Ratliff, son....and Stephen Heyer is no Jay Ratliff.

We got a gem with Ratliff. Not everyday can you get a solid starting NT in the 7th round.

Hard to believe our DL generated three starters from a 4th, 7th, and a 1st round pick.

Which is exactly why Im a strong proponent of drafting from the SEC. If you have equal grades on 2 guys, go with the guy from the tougher conference. Not always true but i'd say it usually is right

Dallas under BIll and Jeff seemed to target the SEC over any other conference

I hope we do it again this year w/ a WR like Earl Bennett

2003 : Jason Witten Tenn, Bradie James LSU
2004 : Peterman LSU, Bruce Thornton UGA
2005 : Marcus Spears LSU, Kevin Burnett Tenn, Jay Ratliff AUB
2006 : Skylar Green LSU

As you can see 4 years in a row we went heavily after LSU guys. 3 worked out. 2 bombed it. Tennessee we went 2 for 2. 0 for 1 in UGA, 1 for 1 in auburn.

07 had 0 sec guys. :(

I'm happy with this. He's a below-average talent, but he's a backup who can play tackle or guard, and with our starters aging, we need solid backups.

Heyer is not a starting quality player, and the fans who think he is are delusional. Maybe in time he will be, but certainly not last year.

Noble was not good. Very not good.
