The Commanders have reportedly signed OL Artis Hicks. He is basically a warm body which I like because it will give us time to rebuild our line through the draft over the next few years without giving us cap headaches if the cap comes back.

EDIT: so originally I said that the Skins signed Pashos. Now it's being reported that he's left DC for Cleveland without signing.

I'm being dead serious; I did not know they were still in the league.

More veteran running back news filed to ESPN: Steelers free-agent RB Willie Parker is scheduled Monday to visit the Commanders.

No thanks. Maybe 5 years ago. I would rather have had chester taylor, if the bears hadn't gone an a free-for-all.

Parker hasn't been very good in a couple of years. But he does at least have speed. We haven't had any of that at RB in a long time.

Do you two skins fans expect that the skins will do some trading down in this years draft in order to get more picks? Or Hope that is the case?

I would imagine a new RB corp and Oline issues would be on docket for the draft and you could probably get some decent running backs by trading down for more picks.

Just curious.

I hope the Skins sign him or some other scrub OL.

Then, they will feel confident about their OL and pass on Okung and take ...(drumroll)...Jimmy Clausen!:D

It takes 2 to tango to trade down.

Who is going to trade up to that 4th spot? Its really tough to say 7 weeks before the draft how things will shake out.

The Rams could trade for McNabb and not need to draft Bradford and we take him. Maybe Clausen just wows everyone at the pro day. Or the Commanders become very desperate for o-line help and draft Okung. Or Pete Carrol offers a stupid trade to move up to 4.

I expect the number 37 pick will be in play. But thats just me

Whatever it is, seeing how the entire NFL media whiffed badly on the Julius Peppers to the Commanders call, nobody knows what the Commanders will do until its done

KFFL is reporting that the Skins will be bringing in DT Ma'ake Kemoeatu for a visit early next week... I also read somewhere that they might be interested in Montrae Holland, but the Boys are also interested in bringing him back...

A big NT would not be bad. Again it looks like he would be a stop gap for now until someone is found in the draft over the next 2 seasons.

Its pretty obvious what Shanahan/Allen are trying to do. Bring in some decent veterans so the team doesn't embarrass itself in 2010, and hopefully stock pile the depth behind them with younger guys to be the core of the team from 2012 onward.

Part 2 remains to be seen until April, and April 2011 and 2012 to be quite frank. But having some decent NFL vets will hopefully prevent disasters of 2009

Shanahan won't make it that long.

Cowboys face competition for Holland -- 11:48 a.m.
The Dallas Cowboys are showing some interest in re-signing offensive lineman Montrae Holland, but the Washington Commanders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also in the mix, according to an NFL source.

The eighth-year veteran, who is an unrestricted free agent, was traded to the Cowboys from the Denver Broncos back in 2008 for a fifth-round pick in this year's NFL Draft. Since joining the Cowboys, he has started in just two games and appeared in seven as a reserve after being a 16-game starter for the Broncos in 2007, so a fresh start with another team might benefit the -6-foot-2, 326-pound lineman.

A fourth-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, Holland has appeared in 75 games and started 48, including all 16 during the 2007 season with the Broncos.

I would love to trade down because I don't think there's a huge difference among the top 5 tackles, and I'd rather trade down to get one cheaper. But like SkinsHokieFan said, it takes two.
