That isn't what I asked. If we're just taking whoever we want for one game or for the rest of the playoffs, I'm not taking Brees.

Frankly, I'm not 100% sure that I wouldn't just ride or die with Dak.

If we could trade Dak for Brees right now I'd do it and I don't think it would be a very hard decision for me. Dak leaves a lot to be desired. He is a play maker and I love having him on a cheap contract. With talent around him he can absolutely lead this team to uncharted territories. Once he gets paid big $ I fear he's just not good enough to carry us, once he loses big time players due to us having to pay him too much. Saturday, with our defense and running game...I take Dak over Goff. In the long run, If I had to pay one of them a lot of money I'd probably be more comfortable paying Goff.

Basically I'd take Brees because it might save us from having to pay Dak too much money. Now if he gives us a player friendly contract then I'd rather have him over Brees going further. I don't see that happening though, especially if we win this weekend.

Maybe I asked the question wrong, or maybe you'd take Brees no matter what. My thoughts:

If I could take Brees for the rest of the playoffs instead of Dak, I'd do that in a vacuum. If I had to trade Dak for Brees, no way would I take a 39 year old QB over our 25 year old.

BUT....

If someone said, 'You can have Brees for the playoffs, but you're going to have to tell Dak to sit. Tell Dak he can have his job back next year.', then I'm going to ride or die with Dak rather than screw up his brain and whatever chemistry is there now.

Unlike baseball where teams sometimes 'rent' pitchers for the playoffs, I don't think a team can plug a QB in for a playoff run and then necesarily expect the original QB to perform well the following season.

I know it's just a hypothetical, but who knows how Wentz was impacted by Foles SB run last year (this year?). It can't have ZERO impact in a locker room, I just don't know how much it does have.

Well in a sense this already happened with Romo. He was the better QB on the team but we sat him for Dak and his ego. If Brees was on this team right now I'd probably sit Dak for him. I really want a SB and I think Brees would give us the best chance. Like you said, this is all hypothetical and I'm absolutely fine with Dak as our QB on this team. He has shown that he can get the job done. I don't think he's going to single handedly win us a SB this season, but if we do win the damn thing he's gonna have a big part in it, and I don't doubt he can't do that. Like I've said before with him, in a one score game late in the game is where is only true elite ability come out. I'm excited to see what he does for us the rest of these playoffs. This next game is a HUGE game for Dak and Garrett and how fans view them going forward.

Easy...

Dak!

Give me the dual QB who can pass well enough and use his legs. I will beat you up and eat your lunch in front of you any day/every day with such a good hybrid QB.

To be honest, I barely remember to put my socks on in the morning so I'll just get back at you now. Dak could never win another game and he would still be a better QB then Foles. There now you don't gotta wait and I don't have to remember! ;)
An admission that Dak will never take the Cowboys to the promised land

Put either one in the same random offense, against any random defense (no cherry-picking rosters), and I’ll take Dak > Goff every time.

Dak doesn't have an ego.

Why do we keep comparing Dak to other QBs? Dak can't throw the football or read defenses with consistency and that's what separates an average QB from great ones. I don't think Goff is great but he is much better than Dak at both.
Dak reads D's.

And Dak doesn't throw the ball badly at all.

Are people just repeating BSPN spew or just not paying attention?

Dak reads D's.

That's false, Kurt Warner did a section on TV showing all the open receivers that Dak is missing due to the lack of anticipation. Throwing 2 yards passes on 3rd and long is not considered reading defenses.

You also said he can't pass. He's been improving in that area dramatically since the start. You really shouldn't say such stuff if you want people to take you seriously.

He can't pass with consistency, he doesn't thread the needle and that's already on film. If you want to believe Dak's the best thing since sliced bread that's on you but my perspectives are based on what I observe when he's on the field.

Never mind. Thought a conversation was possible.

I don't know what you are trying to do. Dak is better then Foles. I don't understand what you are trying to argue with me. You won't change my mind and I wont change yours. Let's leave it at that.
