Skip Bayless-"Why Jerry Jones' team won't win"

So people really believe that Jerry only signed Tony Romo because he's exciting to watch, but not a Super Bowl QB?

Learn something new every day.

See Q. Carter. That's EXACTLY why jerry drafted him.

It's not like he doesn't have it in him.

We love to blame what we can see and we're all guilty of it (myself definitely included.) When it's on our offense, defense, coaching, motivation, certain players and even individual plays in a game there is and always has been one common denominator....Jerry. Sometimes it feels good to realize that and let a lot of pressure off of yourself, because the planets will LITERALLY have to align for us to win another championship with the amount of control and influence he has on the team.

Some times the truth hurts. i am no fan of Skip or Stephen A. smith. but they are spot on about Jerry. the local Dallas media won't dare say it. but it's the truth.

It's actually his Patriots picture with the logo cut off. It looked close enough to the Cowboys away blues, so I used it during my "sign him" campaign.

So one vote for 'No' and one for 'Yes'.

Maybe we should start a poll?

:D

Who is that man?

By the way, I think Jerry wants to win a Super Bowl. He just wants to do it HIS way. And I think he really believes he's only a few players away.
He may be too stubborn to see past himself.

Spot on. Did anybody see all the & symbols throughout the article? I read it on my phone so maybe that was why. A lot of weird grammar and punctuation though. I only say this because I was a journalist in the military for 4 years so I'm conscious of things when I read journalism.

I really don´t like Skip that much, but he nailed it with this one, credit where credit is due.

I think he has to realize what's more important, winning a Super Bowl or his way.

Thus far, it is obviously a one or the other proposition.

Prove them wrong?

Has nothing to do with Romo actually winning a Super Bowl.

It's sheer lunacy to think that Jerry extended Romo because he's some sort of lightning rod for controversy and doesn't think Romo can win a Super Bowl.

Jerry extended Romo because he believes that the Cowboys can win a Super Bowl with him as the QB. And he's better than any alternatives. The draft class was incredibly weak for QB's and there were no good free agent QB's.

Whether Romo wins a Super Bowl or not isn't the point behind Skip's article. It's that he truly believes that Jerry doesn't think that the Cowboys can win with Romo, but since he's such a controversial QB that is the only reason for the extension.

It's nonsense. And anybody thinking that Skip is 'spot on' either didn't read the entire article or buys too much into media goofiness.

I'm not too happy with Romo's play this year, but we needed to extend his contract and he earned the extension. Hopefully we'll be smart enough to draft a QB next year and develop him for two years and then have him take over for Romo in 2016.

What's a joke is the perennial confidence many have in this team. Like the 12-4 crowd.

I believe Bayless is saying that Jones re-signed Romo because he's entertaining, not controversial. Romo's good enough to make Dallas "relevant" (a word Jones has used a lot lately), and also, Romo is a QB unequaled in his ability to make a phenomenal play, followed by a headscratcher, and that entertaining aspect is is what Jerry's concerned about. Frankly, I dont think that's arguable. If Jones were more concerned about winning, he'd have made dramatic coaching and front office changes. Instead, he's content to coast along as-is, because from a financial standpoint, it's working out well for him.

Jerry Jones is not going to extend a player to a contract like that because he is 'entertaining' or 'controversial' if he doesn't believe they can win with the player.

If he really had that type of mentality, he could just find any player to do the same thing and at a much cheaper price.

If you don't believe that Romo can win the Super Bowl, so be it. But it's insane to think that Jerry only extended Romo because he sells tickets and merchandise. He extended Romo because he believes Romo can win the Super Bowl and in this case...there was not a better option out there. That's unless you wanted us to draft Geno Smith instead.

I can't speak for everyone else. But I pointed this out a LONG time ago. Jerry has built an entertainment empire. And the Cowboys are in the sports division of his empire.

He makes some very good, very valid points, but he's off with some things. I think there are a lot of people on the team or within the organization who care as much about winning as the 90's Cowboys did (remember, Garrett was one of those guys). Players like Lee, Witten, Romo, etc., and I'm sure some of the scouts and people in the FO. Just not Jerry. And there's no Jimmy to bring down fire and brimstone, and put the fear of God into anyone. Also, quoting Stephen A Smith is always a mistake. This idea of Romo "being an accident waiting to happen" is such a tired, overdone narrative. Jerry is the accident waiting to happen.
