A prove it year?! They’ve watched his whole career and paid him after the best season of his life. That doesn’t fit the definition of prove it year. You don’t take a guy who’ been your starting QB for 8 years and 2 contracts and get a 1 year prove it deal. That’s just ridiculous. The decision was sign Dak or let him walk. Since we didn’t even have any talent in the developmental pipeline, letting him walk was never considered. Jerry was just stupid for not extending him early on both contracts when it would have saved him a ton of money. Jerry let him play the final year of his rookie contract and then franchise tag him to avoid letting him leave in FA. Do a cheap deal before the season to avoid that franchise? Nope, let him play it out and let’s give him the Cousins treatment and tag him twice. Now get the deal done? Nope, let’s let him stand on the edge of free agency and then give him a huge contract.

Jerry is an idiot when it comes to contracts.

Im a Dak fan, but I would have let him walk after two franchise tags. Tagging a guy should be used only to give you more time to hammer out a contract. Allowing a player to play on the tag, and then tag him again is insane money that you cannot walk back when trying to negotiate a contract. That’s why it almost never happens.

All the blame goes to Jerry that we are not well into developing another QB or paying an above average Dak a more reasonable salary around 50 million.

It would be better if Jerry forgot about Schottenheimer and opened the door for Saleh.

When will the miscues end?! There are times when listening to Stephen is just foolish.

Sometimes, it might be more productive to trust someone who has actually been right.

Another way to look at it. If Jerry hires Schottenheimer to be the HC, the media will be critical. Then Jerry will feel he has to do everything possible to prove himself right and everyone else wrong. He will spend the offseason improving the roster. Wishful thinking?

I still wonder if this is some kind of "Major League" thing Jerry has going on. Is he sinking the team on purpose?
