Slaton decides to go pro

"West Virginia junior RB Steve Slaton announced earlier today that he will be skipping his senior season and entering the 2008 draft where he was projected to be a second round pick by the NFL's special advisory committee."

I've been telling people, that are high on this guy, that he's going to drop out of the 1st rd. He's not viewed as a NFL RB by most scouts. He doesn't have a NFL RB's body. I hope this puts that argument to rest.

He will be a bust

Divine is twice the runner Slaton is.

Slaton should have stayed. I bet he doesn't go 2nd round.

Probably 3rd at best.

Devine make you a believer in that game.:laugh2:

I am curious how he will do as the main starter over the season and without FB Schmitt next year.

We have some other decent looking RBs to work with him as well and what we hope is a decent FB prospect coming in to replace Schmitt.

Devine has electric ability but I am hoping he can hold up as the main starter as he is a little guy.

Agreed.

If Slaton is there late in 3rd and we have not gone QB I run to the podium.

Can use a year in the NFL Weight room and program. TD like speed and running style. Nice backup to MB3 if we don't get Rice earlier....

Agreed. His speed and quickness will complement the Barberian's style nicely! At best I'd draft him in the 3rd Rd because of his size and propensity to put the ball on the turf.

Heck, I'd be happy if Kevin Smith from UCF is there with the Cowboys' 2nd first round pick.

I am curious if someone has his real timed speed? I've seen him listed at 4.4 and 4.58(yes Isaiah's time). I really thought he was closer to the sub 4.4! Am I mistaken? He just can't seem to stay healthy.

You and I both! Kevin Smith is the real deal, reminds me of LT but a litter bigger, coming from a small 1A school...
