I was just wondering if there are any Sleep Number bed owners here or any former owners and their thoughts. I'm looking to purchase a new mattress and I'm leaning towards the p5 model.

I've had mine for 16 year YR and it's been solid. It looses a little more air these days and the plastic base broke a few years ago. But overall it's been a great bed.

I don't know what model mine is but it's about 15 years old and I love it. It's a king size. I like being able to adjust the settings for each side of the bed since my wife likes a softer mattress. It's also nice that neither one of us can feel the other rolling around or getting in and out of bed since it's essentially two different mattresses. I'm a restless sleeper constantly tossing and turning so I'm sure my wife really appreciates it. I normally like a harder mattress but sometimes when I'm sore or my back hurts it's wonderful to be able to adjust the firmness with the click of a button.

We've only had one problem during the time we've owned it. It was some sort of leak in the air hose and was a cheap and easy fix.

I know they've come a long way since I bought mine and you damn near need to take a loan out to buy one but it was worth every penny to me and I'll definitely buy another whenever we retire the one we have. My sleep literally improved so it was a small price to pay.

Ultimately, I think a lot of it has to do with you and/or your partners (if you have one) sleeping habits. If you sleep fine now then I wouldn't waste the money.

I've tires on and wasn't impressed--especially for the price tag.

I got this mattress about a yer ago and couldn't be happier. Saved thousands.

As someone with back issues, I couldn't be happier with mine. Nothing beats the ability to adjust the bed to any firmness I need. It's expensive based on what it actually is (two big rafts) but it works well.

My advice? Refill your mattresses every few weeks. Raise them up to max, and then lower them down to your preferred setting.

Highly recommended.

I was diagnosed with a degenerating disc in my lower back, right out of college, and had one heck of a time getting a good sleep @ night. Sports took a toll on my body. After trying almost every bed possible, I settled on the Sleep Number. That was 15 years ago and the bed still functions the same as it did when I bought it. It's been through some wars, 99% of the wars occurred pre-marriage if you nomsayin' ;), and I've yet to have a problem. If you do get one, my only advice would be to ensure that you inflate each side at least a few times a week when not in use. I've noticed that after a few nights of sleep @ my number, and not inflating during the day, it definitely feels 'softer'.

Hit me up if you do decide to purchase one. They used to have a referral program that gives you a discount and me a coupon off my next bed.

I've been using a queen size one the last few years though it's probably a good 15 years old. Took a bit to get used to but I like it.

The very first night I slept on mine(I've long since left it behind) I'd set it to 100 and passed out( been drinking ) on my right side,I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, took one step and collapsed to the floor staring up at the snow on the TV as my entire right side of my body was numb,I remember thinking I must've had a stroke or something in my sleep and this was what the rest of my life was going to be like:lmao: anyway I made a forced conscience effort to try and move my right hand fingers and they started to wiggle, idid the same with the right foot,I'm thinking I'm gonna come out of this,as it was just numb and tingling :lmao: apparently I'd pinched a nerve or whatever to have made pretty much my entire right side of my body to go to sleep,,, needless to say ,the 100 sleep setting was not for me,pretty sure I'd settled around 45 after that,,,, I agree with the above poster who has the degenerating disc back problem, same here and that air mattress along with quality insoles in the work boots seemed to help ,as before that I tended to have my back flair up in pretty pain on me about twice a year with each incident lasting about 6 months eacho_O
( before buying it, I was regretting calling them on the phone as they were incessant in their approach of making a sale,,,it was around $1,600 iirc)
