Slowing down the blitzes

Dak last night was getting happy feet back there and making bad throws when getting blitzed. We need to slow the blitzes down as I'm sure more teams will start to bring it. I don't understand why we don't throw the screen pass at all. What is going on with Lance Dunbar? He is a great screen kind of guy. He is our poor mans Sproles. I wonder when we will start playing him to slow down the defenses and keep them honest. We need to open up the screen game with our RBs/WRs. Also I feel like we went away from Witten and Beasley yesterday who are great short and mid catch receivers that would give Dak the option of getting rid of it quick. What do you guys think?

Zeke does everything well. He basically replaces what Dunbar can do. Maybe you can line Dunbar up as receiver.

As for the blitzes, Dak is young and the coaching staff needs to give him quick read/throw plays. The eagles blitzing like they did should leave the middle of the field wide open for a quick slant.

Screen passes take time to develop and it's tough when teams bring the kitchen sink. You need pulling o-lineman and the RB needs to find space when blitzers are coming from all angles.

The way to beat the blitz is to win the one-on-one matchups on the outside and get the ball deep. They did it with Dez in the first quarter but didn't try it again. If you can get 2 or 3 of those deep passes, the defense will start to back off.

Zeke...swing pass outta the backfield (like a long handoff in space) and let him ROLL around the corner. My god, Linehan was maddening last night. We ran that with Dunbar in the past and NOTHING like that last night. I'd have thrown about 8 of those to Zeke and he would've busted one. THey'd back off in a hurry.

Agree. Also the D coordinator Jim Schwartz is a former head coach with some experience against Dallas and regardless of QB knows that Blitzes can cause us issues.

I understand Zeke does everything well, but he was exhausted last night. We need to use Dunbar to give Zeke rest. Watch the game winning TD pass and look at Zeke, he got hit and the way he fell you can tell he had nothing left in the tank, he had just laid there and didn't want to get up.

I don't disagree. Remember.. the game did go into overtime. A lot of players were exhausted. You're supposed to give everything you have when you play. That's exactly what he did.

The deep ball is one way, the swing pass is another way, quick slants but they were playing the slant very well last night.
