I'm not the only person who thinks the Sporting News is by far the worst when it comes to their draft stuff, am I? It just seems like every year they're so far off from the mainstream outlets. I don't know how accurate they are, but every year when I first look at their stuff it seems way off.

You are not alone. I was just checking on it. Here is the actual draft order of the first 20 WRs taken compared to their 2008 SN WR rankings:

#5 Donnie Avery
#1 Devin Thomas
#10
#11
#12
#16
#7
#2
#6
#17
#13
#4
#9
#8
#3
#26
#41
#60
#14
#22

SN does provide an exhaustive source of draftable players, and its interesting in that their write-ups often contradict where they have the players ranked. For instance, read Eddie Royal's write-up and he sounds like an electric, clutch TD machine who ran a 4.39 at the combine. So why was he ranked 12th?

I consider them the worst as well.

According to The Huddle Report's mock draft and top 100 scores for the past three years, The Sporting News isn't the worst ... but it's close. Their mock draft tied for 75th out of 94 last year (tied with Mike Mayock and Pete Prisco, among others), and their top 100 tied for 38th out of 40. In the three-year averages, their top 100 ranks 23rd out of 28.

Well, they're entitled to their opinion and so am I.

SN, your rankings suck.

Is that online anywhere? I'd like to take a look at it.

Brandon Tate 5th best WR? r'lly?
Tate's one of my favorite WRs, but it's mainly because he could be had in the middle rounds. There's still at least 12 WRs I'd take before him if given the option.

If this list is true, I like 17 (Robiskie), 21 (Thomas), 31 (Stoughter), and 33 (McKinley). To have 2 and 3 in front of 4 is quite a joke.

I think everyone missed that Avery would be the 1st WR to go, but these guys just continued to miss all the way through....very consistant. They did do okay on a couple.
