RB - somewhat skewed because he was split out wide a lot, but Lance Dunbar saw more action than the other two RBs.
Dunbar - 33
Randle - 27
McFadden - 10

LB - Lee is in every play, Hitchens is in the 77% of plays that we're not in Dime, and Wilber joins him 32% of the time for the standard 3 LB defense
Lee - 62 (out of 62 total defensive snaps)
Hitchens - 48
Wilber - 20

DL - Surprised T.Crawford didn't see more action, anyone know why? (Expressing these in % terms, easier to compare)
Lawrence - 82%
T. Crawford - 71%
Mincey - 68%
Hayden - 65%
J. Crawford - 45%
T. McLain - 35%
R. Gregory - 31%

DB - Kind of tedious to type out every DB's stats, but suffice to say:
Wilcox/Church were the starting safeties, with Wilcox leaving for goal line and Church playing 100% of the snaps.
Carr/Claiborne were the CB starters and only left for goalline.
Patmon was the Nickel DB replacing Wilber.
B. Jones was the dime DB replacing Hitchens.
White and Heath were the dollar/hail mary guys (4 snaps for White, 2 for Heath).

Good post.

That's about the percentage I expect from TCraw.

Too much for Hayden, but they only had 7 DL and JCraw had to play some DE when Gregory got injured.

Lawrence might have been a little lower if not for Gregory's injury. Lawrence dis play some on the right.

Am I reading this right that we were in base defense only 32% of the snaps? So in nickle/dime in 68%?

Yep. Base/goalline 32% of the time. Lines up with Patmon's 68% playing time. And Byron Jones' 23% for the dime/dollar packages.

Also reinforces the concept that in today's NFL your 3rd CB is more important than your 3rd LB.

Good post OP.

Next week we need MORE DLinemen playing. We need to keep EVERYONE fresh. AND we need penetrators. I would love to see Coleman activated and Hayden, whose style is rather ineffective against this kind of offense, getting less snaps. We need to rotate 8-9 DL instead of 6-7 like we did against the Giants.

Atlanta's DL got tired even though they weren't on the field for a long time. We MUST avoid this at all costs.

68% for Hayden when only in the base for 32%. That means He was in 36% more (or more than twice as many) snaps people claimed he would be in since we only play him in the base. I knew he'd be one of our most utilized players. That's why I can't accept when people tell me "Don't worry. He's only in the base." Of course, the excuse then is that people are injured. Let's see how it looks when Gregory and Hardy are back.

Also, a few other things. We really need to find a way to get White in more snaps. I think he was our best DB these past few months. Imagine how little Jones and White would've played if Scandrick didn't get hurt. I remember Garrett saying Jones might play FS if the CBs were healthy and/or playing well. Well, 3 CBs (4 including Scandrick) are ahead of Jones and he's still not playing FS. But, to be honest, I think 23% sounds right for him. He's not ready. But White needs to get in there more.

Also, disappointed that Coleman wasn't active. He really needs some snaps. Our D-line looks exactly like it did last year with Hardy and Gregory out. Coleman beasted.

How do you feel about our secondary distribution? It makes me curious how it would've been if Scandrick was healthy. Even without Scandrick, we still barely use our 5th CB (White) who is very good. I think our CB depth is good.

Well Claiborne looked great. Carr looked like Carr - average to slightly better than average maybe. Patmon looked good but almost made a blunder but was bailed out by butter fingers Giants' receiver.

I like our depth. The need to be all over the short game this week though. Press the outside receiver and daring the QB to wait to make the long throw.

I agree, if he has to hold it T Crawford will be sitting in his lap.

I can't complain. It speaks of our CB depth that Scandrick can be out for the season and we still don't have enough snaps to go around. I just really wish we would try out one of Jones/White at FS because I think Wilcox is ready to be a leader and we need to get a true FS. As much a leader as Church is, he's just not that good a player.

The Giants fast paced...offensive scheme prevented the DL from rotating players as planned. It will be a heck of a lot tougher to Keep fresh players on the field against Philly. Marinelli needs to have a good plan for next week. Won't be his first rodeo with Chip Kelly so it will be interesting.
