Some observations:
  • Cowboys had 71 snaps to Texans 63
  • Pollard 41 snaps; Zeke 35. They obviously had 4 snaps on field together.
  • Despite his pregame injury, Jayron Kearse played all 63 defensive snaps.
  • Kelvin Joseph had 40 of the defense’s 63 snaps. Thought he had more.
  • Sam Williams only had 16 snaps. As well as he’s played lately, that’s surprising.
What else jumps out?

Pollard had more snaps, yet Zeke had the ball more.

Hooker is the 3rd S while either Dono or Kearse is playing FS...the significance is a good OC will take advantage of two 4.6 40s trying to patrol deep.

Hooker is the free safety. When all three are in the game, Wilson plays strong safety and Kearse plays linebacker. Having a safety at linebacker is one of the things that makes it tougher for OCs to take advantage of, except by running the ball.

Right, they’ve been having Wilson and Kearse functioning as a hybrid safety/WiLL LB going back to last year!

I'm thinking there is no way Jason Peters, a month away from his 41st birthday, is going to play close to 100% of the snaps. They have to use Ball at least a third of the time.

You may be right, but we need to be strategic about it. No playing Ball when we have the ball near our goal line. Turnovers like the one he caused yesterday can lead to losses. Put him in when we're around midfield and mainly after we've gotten a lead so there's some cushion to play with.

That's against the Jaguars. Against the Eagles, I don't want to see him in the game unless it's a blowout. I'd rather see Peters fall to pieces on the field than see Ball out there.

From what I have observed from film studies on YouTube, Ball is actually a pretty good run blocker. We don't want to give away the play but I'm thinking he plays in scenarios where there is a high probability the Cowboys will run.

I just don't want to see him in the game when we are near our goal line, even if we're going to try to run the ball. (OK, maybe if we're just trying to run out the clock.)

BTW, did you see the surge that Peters and Martin got on the right side on Dak's QB sneak on our final drive? That was a thing of beauty. I don't know how many snaps Peters can play and stay fresh and healthy, but I want whatever he can give us.

I got ripped during his rookie season when I said he had upside and played well in some games.

Some fans seem to hold on to a few bad plays and let them shape how they view a player. It's like those plays become seared in their minds to where they overlook everything else. That's one reason I don't want to judge Ball too harshly. I just don't think we need for him to learn on the job, especially at the worst times. I don't know what he will become as a player, but if it's something bad, we don't need to find that out at the expense of our season. I'd rather see a heavier dose of him after the Philly game if we're not in the running for the division title at that point.

That is when coaching and play calling matters. If we create tendencies we can later exploit them and mix it up.

They'd have to be caught in very specific coverages and also beat the nasty pass rush but other than that, yea sure.
Dallas doesn't play much 2 deep.

We need to use Pollard and Zeke together a lot more
Zeke behind quarterback more as a FB, Pollard on the wing.
Defenses will no longer be able to stack the Box on short yardage.
If you want to pass you have Zeke to protect and Pollard on the wheel.

Come on KM continue to use your weapons.

Stop. Dono got beat for a TD on jump ball vs a 5'9 WR with a 33 inch vertical on pass from Jeff Driskel. Our nasty pass rush didn't get a sack either vs a 1-11 team. So yeah, sure we already saw it.

Look at the snaps. Hooker has less snaps than Kearse or Wilson, so he's not in the game at times they are. I'm well aware of where they play haha.
