So Bland is definitely CB #2 and moves to the slot in 3WR sets
Hopefully now some who tend to spout out things loudly and often as if it makes them more accurate will stop saying that Bland is going to be a slot corner only with Brown out. It seemed pretty clear he was going to play both a little of depending on the alignment.

The two most surprising things from snap counts:

First, as someone already pointed out, Bland playing much more than Joseph. I didn't even notice he was playing on the outside in base defense.

Second, our extra TE's played less than usual. Not sure what's up with that? It seems we've had great success with our 3 or 4 TE packages. Maybe that's because Ferguson got hurt, but seems weird that we'd completely abandon 3 TE sets with Ferguson out.

You may be right, but we need to be strategic about it. No playing Ball when we have the ball near our goal line. Turnovers like the one he caused yesterday can lead to losses. Put him in when we're around midfield and mainly after we've gotten a lead so there's some cushion to play with.

That's against the Jaguars. Against the Eagles, I don't want to see him in the game unless it's a blowout. I'd rather see Peters fall to pieces on the field than see Ball out there.
they will use the Jags game to reimplement 77 and work out some different OL lineups and see how they work. Ball needs reps much lie Steele needed , steele was looked at as Jag his first 2 seasons.,,many said cut him. Balls been inured hasnt got time..

Some observations:
  • Cowboys had 71 snaps to Texans 63
  • Pollard 41 snaps; Zeke 35. They obviously had 4 snaps on field together.
  • Despite his pregame injury, Jayron Kearse played all 63 defensive snaps.
  • Kelvin Joseph had 40 of the defense’s 63 snaps. Thought he had more.
  • Sam Williams only had 16 snaps. As well as he’s played lately, that’s surprising.
What else jumps out?

Connor MuthaFying Govern…..pleasant surprise!!!

There is no way to know how many snaps Peters could take, Andrew Whitworth took 97% of snaps at LT for the Rams last season at age 40. If Peters is in good condition no reason to think he can't take on the vast majority of the snaps.

I just don't want to see him in the game when we are near our goal line, even if we're going to try to run the ball. (OK, maybe if we're just trying to run out the clock.)

BTW, did you see the surge that Peters and Martin got on the right side on Dak's QB sneak on our final drive? That was a thing of beauty. I don't know how many snaps Peters can play and stay fresh and healthy, but I want whatever he can give us.
....I think Peters can get half the load and be ok. 100% will be asking to much.

From what I have observed from film studies on YouTube, Ball is actually a pretty good run blocker. We don't want to give away the play but I'm thinking he plays in scenarios where there is a high probability the Cowboys will run.
Maybe they can borrow from Landry and alternate RT by plays or parts if series. Except Coach did it with guards and QBs.

Look at the snaps. Hooker has less snaps than Kearse or Wilson, so he's not in the game at times they are. I'm well aware of where they play haha.

I see. Mukuamu had 7, so if he was in for Hooker that would put it at 48, but that's certainly less than the 60s that Kearse and Wilson each played. I'd have to look at the alignments, though. to see how we are deploying them in those situations.

He played all of 15 of 17 games last year but can’t now because he’s a year older?
You’re right he did… But before that he just couldn’t stay healthy in Philly… Which is the aberration, a 40 year old NFL player plays almost a full season, or, he breaks down and is continuously hurt.

Whatever they wind up doing, they better get it right this week because it gets much tougher six days later…

He played 16 in 2018, 13 in 19, 8 in 20, 15 last year. He’s not anymore or less likely to get hurt than anyone else playing a game where players get hurt!

Lol. Right. 41 year olds who have missed 13 games over the last 3 years are just as likely to get hurt going forward as guys decades younger…that’s funny.

Hmmm… see Ronnie Stanley! Uh, maybe it’s my imagination but didn’t we just have a 3rd year tackle tear his ACL?

Seriously dude? Yes it’s a rough sport. Examples of guys at all ages going down… generally speaking though the older you get the more injury prone you are… You have to know this.

No it doesn’t seem to be.
Lol, he’s on the team, he’s currently the best option, you play him, if he gets hurt then it’s the next best option. You don’t sit a player because he could get hurt!!!
