What stood out most to me is Schultz.

I really liked the way the other TEs played in his absents.

Then he comes back and is completely not existent while getting 90% of the snaps.
Yep, he was a different player yesterday for sure. I'm far from a doctor, but get worried as so many compared his injury to Zekes last year. If that is the case and Schultz is not 100%, but they run him out there because its a "he cant make it worse" type of injury then he needs to sit. Give the young guys a shot and let Schultz be more of a role player. No sense in trotting a banged up player out week after week if you have reliable secondary options, which in a small sample size does seem to be the case.

various:
Gallup got a lot more snaps than expected. Guessing he feels better than we could hope. WAS was a good opponent for a returning WR as those DBs aren't that good and Gallup cooked them kids for the confidence boost.
Zero people can feel good about Joseph; he isn't Trevon Diggs that's for sure.
All that said, Joseph is a superb athlete and he may eventually "get it" at CB. Worst case he is a solid roster member. He will never be a Taco but he may be a Chido.
Schultz didn't look great fellas. All that said every metric says he was a top 10 TE last year so gotta let that ride.
Micah is a monster but he might need a bit more rest. He is very undersized and teams are gonna try to bully him. Keep moving him around and keep him rested.

With how fast Dallas turns over the roster if you don't like a player just wait a year or two.

Here are yesterday’s snap counts vs the Washington whatevers.
Some things that stand out to me:
  • The Cowboys only had 61 snaps to Wash’s 74. The Cowboys were obviously more efficient.
  • Good to see Gallup back. He had 39 snaps and caught a TD.
  • Micah Parsons had 63 of the defense’s 74 snaps. He seemed gassed at times.
  • Sam Williams had 17 snaps. He’s getting more each week.
  • Kelvin Joseph once again with zero snaps on D. Officially on bust watch.
  • Zeke had 39 snaps to Pollard’s 24.
What else stood out?

The Cowboys 5th round draft pick, DT Ridgeway had 15 snaps for Washington.

I think if Brown or Diggs goes down with an injury we will see Joseph in the game. I think they have him as an outside corner, not a slot guy.
he has been disappointing to say the least. most of what I have seen is he lacks discipline in how he plays the position. in College you are athletic, you get away with your athleticism, in the NFL everyone is talented and athletic, discipline of your position makes the difference.

This could be very true. The facemask penalty last week was a good example of that lack of discipline.

How do those 5th and 6th round picks that are outstanding on this defense make you feel? Wilson, Bland, Mukuamu, Anthony Brown, and Bohanna.
I am happy. those are finds. but first, 2nd should turn into solid contributors. those later round picks are the ones that help put you on the top if they work out. with that said, none of those guys make me go wow...they are average to good players for 5th and 6th round picks.

The Cowboys have 4 legit safeties on the roster.

It's quite weird.
Mukuamu has been getting 30% to 38% of snaps since Kearse got hurt. It will be interesting to see if he keeps getting on the field on defense when Kearse comes back. Hooker is made of glass, so they might be smart to pull him on run downs

Joseph could be a future All-Stater but he is trapped behind an actual junior All-Stater and a Senior All-Stater.

Will coaches pull actual for potential? Great for the team, no so much for the player.

Joseph practices at outside CB. They're not going to bench Brown or Diggs to get Joseph on the field even if he is really good in practice.

Quinn likes to have Nickel CBs that focus on playing Nickel (covering the slot WR).

Back in the day, the Cowboys initially kept Scandrick at Nickel despite him potentially being better than Mike Jenkins on the outside.
- Wade Phillips explained that they had thrown too much at Scandrick when they tried having him practice both positions.

Joseph has more ST snaps than ST leader CJ Goodwin...

Jalen Tolbert not even active. If Kelvin Joseph is on bust watch, when does Tolbert go there?

Washington having more snaps is an illusion, not an efficiency defining stat. The teams were almost identical going into 4th Quarter on snaps. Dallas started to play looser with the big lead, allowing more underneath stuff but defending against big gains. This let them get more trash time snaps.

Then they shouldn't chose him.
Just a dumb post. They should sit the superior player on the bench because you think they need to chose just one to play 100% of the time?

If a players conditioning allows him to only play 40% of the snaps more effectively than the lesser player, you take those snaps.

yes, because there is such a thing a o line continuity. The way someone play effects the player next to them. It's hard to build when you're subbing out players between series. That's why it doesn't happen often.
