You must be really sold on Yeldon... I've seen you mention him now several times. I haven't been crazy about him but I usually tend to agree with your takes on personnel. I will go look a little closer at him soon and try to see what you are.

I dont like Yeldon ,i dont think he is a natural pass catcher and something about these ALabama RBs gives me pause..we should not be forcing DE picks,we might have to bite the bullet and get a proven pass rusher in FA.

I think he is the best NFL back in this class.
Gurley has more talent but is a severe injury risk.
Yeldon plays(looks on the field) like a guy 190 but is over 225.
He reminds me a lot of Eric Dickerson. Speed and an ability to make you miss, can play tall at times but usually after getting through the hole.
Played as a true freshman but never had to carry the load all alone as Bama had 5 star RBs every season.
We'll see on him but I believe he'll wind up a real value for someone.

I will be very curious to see where is actually ranked come draft time.
I think he is severely underrated by sites right now.

Disagree on Yeldon obviously but we will see. He was probably the best pass catching back Bama had. They used Christian Jones in that role but he ended up with only 4 more catches playing almost solely as a receiver.
Yeldon had his least impressive season as a true junior. But his career was really solid. And he is a very different bodytype than prior Bama RBs. Not nearly as thick-bodied and bullish. He is a slasher/speedster type. When he entered games for Bama they often scored. He showed great burst once at that second level and is hard to tackle.

I do agree with you on NOT forcing a DL pick. All that said in the mock my options were bleh at 27. Marcus Peters and Maxx Williams were the "values". Owa was simply the least reachy guy I felt was on the Cowboys board and was remotely a fit. I don;t even assume he starts as a rookie. Very similar guy to DLaw in overall value is a different style of play.

Love the mock but I don't think the Alabama guard will make to us by the 3rd

Is that a good thing?

He runs pretty upright, I am not sold on him. Since the coaches had him splitting carries it seems like they weren't fully sold in Yeldon either.

Yes, very good because it means he wasn't plodding or bowling over people.
He was a slasher that happens to be big enough to handle the NFL.

Bama coaches had 3 5Star RBs on the squad. They thought enough of Yeldon that he never red-shirted and played as a true freshman.
Your take is pretty much what I expect of people though.
Very under-rated talent. Rushed for 3300 yards and 37 TDs in 3 seasons.
He is also only 21 years old.

big running backs that run like small running backs, even though they lack the agility and quickness of smaller running backs, don't work out too well in the NFL.

the point is that he has quickness and agility of a smaller back.
he is very fluid and quick.
he makes people miss
that succeeds at the next level.

he is almost identical size to Gurley with better career rushing totals in the same number of seasons.

Yeldon had ankle and hamstring issues in 2014 that limited him but didn't stop him from playing.
that is critical. the most important ability is availability.
but any scout will go look at his freshman and sophomore tape where he was insanely explosive and dominated SEC defenses as an 19 and 20 year old kid.

Yeldon is very similar to Murray and may be available in a similar area for similar reasons.

Not enough early defense for my taste JT. Especially along the DL where we need to draft 2 DE's IMO. Glad to see you threw my pet cat in there. Call me a homer for Lockett I don't care.

Murray is much faster straight line.

I hear you about the playing...but comparing yeldon to gurley doesn't sit well with me.

Yeldon has been on much better teams, with a much better line.

Yeldon had 1 more rushing touchdown and 37 more rushing yards... in 9 more games. Gurley 6.4 yards a carry..Yeldon 5.8 .

Not to mention Gurley is faster, quicker and more powerful. Admittedly his injury is scary, but at this point it doesn't really make sense to insinuate that Yeldon is better..

I like Yeldon. The comparison to Dickerson is interesting. I always thought he reminded me more of Marcus Allen.

I'm a fan of OO as well. I think he was miscast at UCLA and could be a very good SDE. Nice mock overall.

Kouandijo will be gone by our 3rd round pick, and even if he wasn't and we took him, I don't think he beats out Leary in year 1. I like him as a player though.

I think Trinca-Pasat will be long gone by the 7th round.

I like your mock overall though, and if it fell that way I'd be ok with it.

Did one too with Drafttek, which almost always has silly rankings even up to draft day.
