Snow forecasted for NYG Game on Sunday

I just don't remember the last time the Cowboys played in cold weather, much less snowing, and came out winners.

At least Dallas has some good runners...they'll need them Sunday. I hope Barber (and Crayton) spent some extra time on ball handling this week. There's nothing like trying to hold a wet, cold football with long sleeves and gloves.

Those were different teams. We now have a quarterback who is battle tested in cold (doesn't get much colder than Buffalo and Boston) and a coach who enjoys the challenge of inclement weather. On the other hand, the Giants' QB grew up in New Orleans and played college ball in Mississippi.

If anything, a snowy game will test both field goal kickers.

People waiting on line to use the restrooms shouldn't turn their back on the field.

Or...at minimum, they should be prepared to duck when they hear, "INCOMING!!"

Snow on the ground means limited running game.

Uncertain about Bledsoe, Glen and KeShawn, but Shockey, Plaxico, Toomer, and Eli Manning are practicing in that type climate as we speak ...advantage G-Men!

It hasn't snowed yet in this area. If they are practicing in the snow as we speak it's because they are using a snow machine.

Weather won't be an issue for this game.

The Leon Lett Bowl. You know the one that he ran down the field and tried to recover a missed kick. That particular play is what lost us the game on that day.

You forgot to add the field general Tom Coughlin stomping the other sideline. NFC east football is back!

How could I forget. However, the Cowboys still lost that one.

Did they win up in NY when Blair Thomas started for Emmitt? I don't think they did.

That game in Lambeau where Dorsey Levens had a career day. Lost that one.

I think the last one I remember the Cowboys winning was at Chicago in the Wild Card game in 91.

I would think bad weather helps the offense more than defense. In this case it will help Dallas. Doesn't come down to being "use to it" in a game like this. Dalls offense ran through Giants defense in good weather. Now in bad waether, the WR's know where they are going, when they make their cut or move. The defense is running with them, guessing in a sense, other than well known plays from films. So the DB or LB will have the tendacy to loose his footing a little more.

Go to the air first, build a lead, then use the ground game to conrol the rest. Typical bad weather football strategy.

Giving it some thought. Wet and cold weather should favor the Cowboys.

Cali boys Tony Hill, Doug Cosby, small handed Troy Aikman have all retired. Floridas Emmit Smith, Nate Newton, Michael Irvin, Dieon Sanders, Alvin Harper, add in Mark Tuninei, Dexter Coakley,Leon Lett, Russel Maryland all warm weather/good weather college backgounds. Now sub in:

Drew Bledsoe, Washington and the NE Pats/Buffalo
Julius Jones, Noter Dame
Marion Barber, Minnesota
Terry Glenn, Ohio State
Keyshawn Johnson USC but 6 years w/ the Jets

Witten is the only exception among our skill position starters.

Add in the fact that the Cowboys straight ahead power blocking style OL will match up with the Giant quick defensive ends. Throw in a second year SEC QB and a Miami TE and we may have something.

Poor weather may be to our advantage with this Parcells-built team.

So... are you saying it's going to hurt even more when Roy hit's them?...

Aikman has huge hands and i don't recall him having more trouble with a wet football than the next guy. i doubt any QB wouldn't prefer a dry one.

also, i hafta to disagree with the idea that warm-weather colleges are less likely to produce good cold-weather pros. his being from USC didn't seem to keep Pittsburgh (historically, one of the better cold-clime teams) off Troy Pomalua. Bradshaw was from frigid Louisianna... Brett Favre from subarctic Mississippi... there are prolly hundreds of examples...

Aikman was notorious for being uncomfortable throwing a wet ball. It had nothing to do with hand size, it was the way he held the football. He held it away from the laces and when the ball was wet his accuracy really suffered.

I don't think it's that bad...

Barber played in Minnesota, right? He should be fine.. Julius, I'm not so sure.

Expect the Giants to have a similar game plan...

Barber played INDOORS at MINNESOTA, Jones OUTDOORS at Notre Dame...

I recall that too - wonder if there are any stats for Aikman in the wet weather?

Is Frosty still on the waiver wire ? I hear Rudolf has a great verticle leap too !

The snow will be very light in the morning and long gone by kickoff. The temperature will be in the low 40's and probably warmer down near the field. This is not especially bad weather. Outside of people from the deep south, southwest, and Southern Cali, everyone on the field will have been in this type of weather before.

I don't think it's going to matter except possibly fewer people might come out for the game.

Well..it might not make a difference. In today's NFL, snowy days favor the short passing game because the receivers wear gloves to prevent the ball from slipping and runners have a terrible time getting traction in mud or on turf.

Is the Meadowlands grass or turf?
