I think the biggest issue with movies like Snow White there is such an ingrained expectation that you either have to deviate far enough from the source material that it will be compared to the original or you have to be pretty true to the source material so nostalgia brings in new and old audiences like mothers and grandmothers taking their daughters and granddaughters to see it.

Yeah, that’s essentially the problem with most of these live remakes. They’re just milking old franchises.

Beauty and the Beast was well done because they pretty much stuck to the classic tale and just modernized Belle somewhat.
