Anyone else getting it? Some roads closed, buses diverted or cancelled. Had to wait half an hour for one and its crawling, just passed 2 abandoned in the middle of the road. This is edinburgh city centre as well not out in the country. On the plus side the german christmas market looks very festive and the castle looks spectacular though couldn't see it from north bridge due to the blizzard conditions

I know a guy on youtube who lives in Norway. I looked up the weather averages and the hottest it gets there is like in the 70's. Is that correct? And Polar Nights? Man I wanna live there. I like the cold weather and night time.

I would love to visit Edinburgh. I hear it's haunted. :)

It really depends on where, i live down south and it can get pretty hot here in summer most of June 08 and 09 was 90+, but those 2 years where exceptionally warm, 70-80 is about normal here for summer if it's sunny.

You have to go farther up north for real polar nights where the sun doesn't come up at all for months, here at the most (which is now) we have about 6-7 hours of daylight a day. Summers are the opposite in June it doesn't completely dark before the sun comes back up again.

If you think you like cold you haven't experienced -30c or colder yet, last winter we had about 3 straight weeks of that. Normally it doesn't get much colder then -10c where i live but already this year we've had -15c nights so i got a terrible feeling we might be inn for another long cold winter this year. Long cold winters are not fun thankfully i'm going to Mexico in a few months so i'll get away from some of it

we're not as bad as norway right enough. this is the earliest we've had consistent snow in 17 years or so they were saying on the news yesterday. just been on there actually that they expect it to get worse, totally unrelated but leslie nielsen is dead!

yeah apparently edinburgh is haunted. my mrs went on a ghost tour shortly after we moved through when her sister came to stay with us, they said it was pretty good. a lot of pubs named after public figures who were hung and are said to haunt the city.

When I landed in Minneapolis yesterday there was snow on the ground, but it wasn't actually snowing at the time.

at the college that decided the best way to inform folk they were closed due to weather was put a bloody sign on the door for me to read after an hour and a half of travelling to get there.

Heh, you must not get too much snow if you felt that was picture-worth :p

On the other hand, you live in a very nice neighborhood. It's got that old-world feel to it.

don't usually get any this time of year, december and january maybe but its the first time its really snowed in november for 17 years. this is also only about the 3rd time we've had it to the extent its interfering with services in the last 10 years or so. supposed to be getting worse over the next few weeks. i was also going to say that some of you guys must get some pretty heavy snow over there, and obviously in norway. should post pics in here to compare snowfalls, i might not win but at least mine have a castle! if need be i'll risk life and limb to drive up to eilean donan castle for a winning photo :)

Probably from that snow storm a couple weeks ago. It hasn't snowed yet in Chicago. But it's a matter of time.

Edinburgh is nice for sure.

We had snow here in Vancouver last week, the tots loved it but I have no winter boots and other than for work, only wear ankle socks so was a tad chilly.

Most of it has melted already.

Sounds good to me. I hate the sun and I hate it when it gets above 70 degrees. -15c isn't too bad, it gets worse than that here all the time. Usually doesn't get to -30c though which is like -22F, though we certainly have windchills worse than that.

Love the pics Daschoo!

Down here in Virginia it's supposed to be rainy and 70 degrees today, which I don't mind at all. It has been in the 50s-60s typically, though.

I am hoping we get a little bit of snow this year, though. Our new house has a fantastic driveway for sledding and I think our daughter would absolutely love it. :D

It's supposed to warm up to nearly 32 here in Western Maine today, so I'm happy about that. After having spent a lot of time in Germany, Colorado, and Utah in my life, I thought I knew all about cold and snow...turns out, I didn't until I moved here. Thankfully, I'll be headed back to Texas soon.

I also have to snicker whenever it gets a little snowy or icy down in South Texas...the world just kind of shuts down. Those guys don't know bad roads.

Same thing happens here, the snow comes like clockwork every year, yet every year it seems to catch the entire city be surprise and chaos ensues :laugh1:
