Good for them. Really who cares.
Its march and as usual dan synder has to be heard from. Again, good for him if he thinks giving up first day picks for brandon loyd and a boatload of cash for randle el is smart then that is good for us.
Last time I checked, pittsburgh new england and philadelphia let players like loyd and randle el walk when they start with big contracts, Yet they keep on plugging away. That is the type of team we are in the process of building.
We are starting to have a backbone of players in ware, spears, canty, jones, barber, witten, williams, newman, james that are core players and will bring us a competitive team each year. That is the smart way, the draft.
The Commanders will win I guess today for whatever that is worth, they will make the splash in march. However the important time of the year is April, particularly the 29th and 30 because that is when the intelligent proven teams build their winners.
I hope we continue to lay low, find a kicker if we can either bring in ayodele for mid level money or back fujita to rotate with singleton and then find the important parts in the draft. Again I am glad and I hope parcells continues to slap jerry' s hand with jeff irelands help.
All this Commander hoopla is really interesting to me though. They are going to make probably 3 more signings by wednesday and everyone will be ranting and raving and the skins fans will act like they have won something. That is fine with me, just interesting why they want to build a team that way. The Commanders won 10 games last year. They got to play two cupcake games against philly because they played them when they were so depleted. All the skins fans think they are a super bowl team and they maybe but had mcnabb been healthy and had they had to face TO last year there is a chance they would have won 8 games. So to have no draft to speak of this year except a 2 and 2nd day picks, which they have proven to not be productive with is an interesting way to build a team. I am just scratching my head over all the cash they are about to give archuletta and randle el.
In my opinion with the money the coaches are paid there and the money the free agents are getting, they have a big nut to crack. Again free agency has proven time and time again to be the place find a player who can help without breaking the bank not the other way around. That seems to be what they are doing to me. The model is the eagles and the patriots, not the 2000 ravens, but that seems to be the route they are taking.
I maybe completely wrong, but I like our scouting department, I like the undrafted free agents we bring in and I like what we have done on the 2nd day since parcells has been here. I hope as I said we find a few more team oriented players who can help for mid level money and then maximize the draft to win, thats the model, the pats and eagles not the 2000 ravens.
