If not a Darren Sharper then at least another FA with upside and youth.

Ah jus cant see Jerra going on this Super Bowl season with Ball as starting free safety.

I do agree this is a SB team and the uncertainty at starting FS, LOT and OL depth is a concern.

But every team has a few questions, even the other SB contenders: Chargers, Colts, Pats, Vikings, Saints.

I'm real confident we find the FS answer with Ball, Hamlin and AOA.

Jerry is doing what Wade wants. I think guys like Sharper do not fit Wades scheme. From the Cowboys website:

honestly right now i'd say no. I think they will explore there options like any smart team would but.... we'll see. I still hope they atleast look into Atogwe though.

we're just going to have to see what happens with atogwe after june 1st. If he returns to the rams which is likely, then yes ball will most likely be our starter at free safety.

To some degree, if Phillips has confidence in him, I'm OK with that because Phillips has shown he knows defense and players who fit his system.

But the other side of me wonders what if he's wrong? What if teams find Ball to be the weak link and attack him successful? What if Mike Hamlin is just a guy and Kwasi's not ready?

Can't do a thing about it but hope, though.

With Atogwe's issues, I don't think anyone's going to offer a big deal. He's more likely to sign a one-year prove-it deal because teams will be wary of his injuries.

I doubt Kwasi picks up enough to start this year. Two years from now wouldn't surprise me there. I'd like to see what Hamlin brings. Apparently they think Atogwe is too pricey. I don't get that but if Wade thinks Ball can do the job then Jerry should respect that.

I think we roll with what we currently have. You're not really going to find an upgrade on the position in free agency right now with what is available. Sure Sharper and Atogwe (and I like Atogwe) may have more skill for the position than what we have on the roster, but I don't think the upgrade in skill is that much more that what we currently have based on the dollars that would handed out to get a FA.

I said before it wouldn't bother me to pick up Sharper and it wouldn't bother me to roll with what we got. Maybe we look at what we have the first six games and if we don't like it or it's not working out Jerry tries to make a trade for that "ballhawking playmaking" safety everyone covets so we can make a deep run at the end of the year.

I think we're fine right now. It's the lack of the big sexy name at the position that I think is making people jumpy.
