Lots of active curses on this team:

Jimmy Johnson curse -- Many thought the curse would be broken by putting him in the ring of honor, but this was only half the curse. Hiring him back at some point might have broken this curse.

Randy Moss curse -- Not drafting Randy Moss ruined the 90's team's chances at rebounding.

Steven Jackson curse - Not drafting Steven Jackson when the draft gods blessed him to the Cowboys set back the Cowboys years until we got DeMarco Murray and wasted prime years for many players.

Bill Parcells Curse - Bill Parcells moving the team to a 3-4 set the team back years, again wasting years for many players.

Jason Garret Curse - This one is a big one. Wasted an entire decade of talent.

Dak Prescott Curse - Going with Dak Prescott instead of a healthy Tony Romo just because he had been winning games against sub 500 teams when Romo gave you the best chance in the playoffs.

Collectively you could call this the Jerry Jones curse, but the reality is Stephen Jones is just as bad. So you might as well call it the Jones curse. You have to be good AND lucky to win a Super Bowl, and the Cowboys aren't good and they aren't lucky.

Or does this "curse" need time to undo itself?

Or are we going to blame a new curse?

Or was this team just overrated?
To be fair here the Cowboys have set numerous records of shame through many different player and coaching changes. Some of it is defying the odds so much that it borders on the super natural. Even blind luck should have resulted in more success in the playoffs.

There is no curse. Jerry is just an incompetent egotistical buffoon

No, it turns out it is hard to win Superbowls. Statistically you should win one every 32 years or so. It's been ~28 years since the Cowboys won their last one. They still have 4 years before they are behind schedule..... v

I thought the Jimmy curse was lifted after Jerry put Jimmy into the ROH.

Must be some other kind of curse.
Jimmy curse was lifted temporarily for us to win the division and then Jimmy changed his mind. Took Jerry this long to put me in the ROH, why should I remove the curse instantly. So he put it back on for the playoffs. :muttley:Give it a decade or two for the curse to be completely lifted.

Jones waited until the last half of this season to make the announcement, then held the induction ceremony during the last home game.
The "curse" had been in effect for so long - the eleventh-hour, about-face ROH gesture wasn't enough to overcome the two-plus decades of pettiness Jones wallowed in concerning the matter.

Next season is when "the curse" is banished for good.
