With BP and Zimmer gone, are we gonna ditch the scheme if we hire a guy like Rivera or Ryan?

We have the personell for both the 4-3 and the 3-4, but with too many LB's on this team we lose the luxury of putting out 4 better LB's than 4 DL. We automatically lose Ware as he would either have to become strictly a LB or strictly a RE. Then we have to shove Spears inside with Fergi and have Hatcher/Canty/Ratliff rotating at LE. Then at LB we would be stuck with Ayodele, James and Carp/Ware at LOLB, MLB and ROLB. And what to do with Ellis/Burnett next year too?

What do we do?

I really hope we can bring in a coach that will be able to teach and help out the secondary and develop Watkins along with our pass rush. We will be hurting due to a big scheme change IMO....

We have the personel to easily switch back to our beloved 4-3 defense. These are my starters in the 4-3:

DE - Hatcher/Canty
DT - Spears/Ratliff
DT - Ferguson/Ratliff
DE - Ware/Bowens

OLB - Carpenter/Ayodele
MLB - James/Ayodele
OLB - Burnett

But can Ware hold up to being run at on running down?
Can Carpenter cover a TE, why not start Ayodele at LOLB?
We would have too many good LB's sit on the bench and waste Ware's ability in the 3-4.

I think he could. Charles Haley & Dwight Freeney are prime examples. Ware is already at the proper proportions at 6-4, 265lbs. I REALLY want Ware to just concentrate on rushing the passer without having to cover RBs.....

I'm not really sold on Ayodele. IF we hire Rivera, I just think James would benefit greatly from his tutelage. I'd like to keep Carpenter and Burnett on the outside since they're very good cover LBs BUT I'm for the best three out there. So if it's Ayodele, Carp, Burnett, then so be it.....
