If he was getting the "unfair competitive advantage" then they ARE tarnished.

Every one already knew what Dallas was going to do on both offense and on defense in the early 90s. The schemes were pretty vanilla. Dallas just ran them well on both sides of the ball. Those were good times.

I think its a little different. On one hand you have the equivalent to illegal recruiting. The other one you actually steal signals and know exactly what the defense is running? What if A-Rod knew before hand exactly what pitches the pitcher was going to throw and in what order?

Bellichick broke the law, but stealing signs has been part of gamesmanship in baseball and football in all era's.

Where this is different is with todays technology it's almost possible to decipher call and relay it to coaches that can relay it onto field. Or communicate to players what the calls are and they observe calls on field directly. BB was stupid to brazenly send his camera to opposing sideline and up close do it. Could have been done in a box with binoculars.

Nolls steelers were directly tied to Steroids late 1970's. San Fran and Shanahans Broncos cheated the Salary Cap. Now BB is tied to stealing some plays. It'll be dealt with and blow over.

And now that Pats can't steal plays they will go 5-10 rest of season out?
