Here's an article discussing so called NFL experts from ESPN who completely looked like donkeys for their projected 2014 -2016 NFL season results.

A group of ESPN experts don’t envision that combination leading Dallas to a very good product on the field over the next three seasons.

The panel of John Clayton, Mel Kiper, Louis Riddick and Mike Sando recently ranked how each NFL team will fare over the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Of the four, only Riddick can be remotely considered an expert of the National Football League. I wouldn't mind reading his commentary but I no longer subscribe to ESPN Insider.

Well, ain't that a hoot. It's mind boggling, really.

Last year was better than I imagined, but I had them at 10-6. The change in organization and commitment to the offensive line was my reasoning, as well as my firm belief in Tony Romo.

People pointed to all the 8-8s as reason for pessimism, which I didn't get. Why did that mean it was going to get worse? Why not, they're on the cusp of breaking through? (Although I shared the concern with Romo's back.)

I can take all 32 teams and give you good reason to expect a bad season next year. It's easy, just name one.

These are guys that either (1) grew up hating the Cowboys, or (2) know their negative prediction will create talk and message board material.

The Cowboys are as poised as anyone to win the Super Bowl. Of course, that means little in the grand scheme.

I don't understand why folks get all upset about wrong predictions. They're predictions for a reason. If anyone really thought their predictions were rock solid (assuming they're gamblers), they'd be sitting pretty after cashing in on their winnings in Vegas.

All predictions are crap shoots at best, even the ones made around here.

I posted this thread not because I'm upset, its more or less as a reminder that all of these so called experts at the end of the day is no better than average Joe's like us.

Jerry should find a way to start his own media network based in Dallas. I'm tired of the North East blowhards dominating the media.

Rupert Murdock basically developed Fox News Network to give an alternative the other networks that all leaned to one side of the spectrum.

But some of these guys were kinder than most in this forum at about this time last year.
I disagreed, but that was how it was.

Hey....if the Sports Reporting thing doesn't work out, they always could go to forecasting the weather.

I don't think many people thought we were going to have a great season in 2014. The think the general consensus was 8-8 or worse. The Cowboys shocked just about all of us with having such a good year.

I feel different. I think they should be more than average Joe's. When it's suppose to be there area of expertise I expect them to use facts...not preconceived notions, biased, and agendas. That's what average Joes do.

Here's my issue with what people consider 'analysts' in North America, they don't actually analyze the game. They just give their opinions, which may have a tad bit more merit if they played the game, but for the most part an opinion is an opinion, doesn't mean much more than a guess from any fan sitting on his couch.

What made me think of this was the brilliant analysis former England and Manchester United player Gary Neville did on the Manchester United vs Manchester City post game last season. The video is in the Facebook link below (couldn't find YouTube video of it, but it works)

Now, not all of you may be familiar with soccer, but his analysis goes into depth of what Man Utds plans were for attack and defence, and how every player had an important role in limiting the space within a 30 yard radius of the City ball carrier. Stuff a fan most likley would never notice, but a former player would.

That's the sort of analysis that's missing from the nfl. Nowadays a recently retired player can just give his opinion and he's considered an 'expert' or 'analyst'. No, he's not. He's just a mouth piece. For a game as intricate as football, we fans deserve better. Now there are some guys that will do similar analysis, but few and far between. It's the same with hockey, were for example the Hockey Night in Canada crew, only Kelly Hrudy does any actual analysis on the game at hand and the tactics/formations/etc, everyone else on the panel (Kypreos, PJ Stock for example) just give their stupid opinions that differ from night to night depending on what sounds more controversial or 'against the grain'.

Besides that I thought all the NFL experts were on here.... Sorry I had to. lol

Wow....I am left wondering is this a joke. I mean that is a pretty well regarded panel of analysts. It is simply mind boggling that the youngest and at the very least top 5 offensive line is so lightly regarded as a foundation piece. For YEARS....YEARS...I wanted the OL fixed...and it is FIXED...for at least the next 6 - 7 years. That ALONE can win you 7 or 8 games. We have a young an active DL. So the OL and DL are solid for the next 3 years. Our offense has always scored points. Heck we won the division outright last year...and prior to that...we played in a win and your in game in week 17 4 years in row....all while we were REBUILDING. This article makes ZERO sense to me!

True.

But that was pre-season last year.
All you have to do is go to this forum at this time last year to see about 75% (or more) of our posters saying the same gloom and doom.

I agree, it didn't make a lot of sense unless the were maybe like Laufenberg--who thought for sure that Romo would never be effective again. If that was the case, I could understand it a little more.

These guys aren't analysts.

The only thing they analyze is last year's standings and then they fill in some words to back up their choice. Reverse engineering if you will.

To actually be insightful would mean work on their part. They're not analyzing.. They're showing off their creative writing skills.
