So can there be player trades while lockout is lifted pending appeal?

For the draft to actually matter and have players values be realistic, the element of player trades needs to be a possibility. Otherwise all the QBs will be taken in the first round since there is a distinct possibility that either you get them now or risk going without.

If no player trades are allowed I'll just read the newspaper on Monday to see what the picks are. I'd encourage everyone else to do the same. Show the NFL you're not going to fall all over yourself and boost their ratings for a watered down product that has been created by nothing other than greed.

Nobody knows yet.

I'd say its really doubtful right now.

If they do somehow rule player trades are allowed on draft weekend, kiss Tashard Choice goodbye.

At this point, neither Judge Nelson nor the appellate court has granted a stay, so yes they could in theory happen right now.

Which sucks b/c Philly will be licking their chops at offers for Kolb now. They would have been stuck with him until AFTER the draft and it would have been picks for next year.

i still cant see why any team would give up picks for him.

They might not. He's really nothing special. He's had a couple of decent games a couple years ago but I don't think that's enough to draw any decent picks.

"Talk to me, I ain't got to long...(hold on)....buzzzz!

As I understand it, the league year hasn't started yet and thus trades can not be made.

Can't the league (Roger Goodell) bar any trades until the appeal is resolved? It doesn't appear to be in the best interest of the NFL as a whole to allow trades, FA signings, etc while in the appeal process. It might show that the NFL will not be harmed by the decision of Judge Nelson and therefore a stay might not be granted.

That is a good question..

We'll see what the owners choose to do. Unless there's a stay,, I think the league putting a hold on trades would be violating Judge Nelson's ruling.

C'mon he's definitely worth some compensation. Just because he plays for a hated division rival doesn't mean he has no value. Coming into the year alot of scouts , Coaches and expert media types really liked this kid and thought he would have a big year. Yeah he played bad and got injured but then Vick just went beserk and he got benched. It's not like he got beat out by Joe webb. At 26 he should get another shot and in the right offense he could still be a good QB. I wouldn't however give him new money until he showed me something but he is definitely worth a pick(s) maybe a conditional pick. i'm not going to try and guess what it should be but if you can get compensation for the charlie whitehurst's of the world you should get compenstaion for Kolb

based on what im not basing this on which team, but lets face it at 26 and needing to start over its just not worth it. what has he proven that says he can do a whole season and give a team something that says he can get them there?

I can't imagine some owner operating "business as usual" at this point. Guess it could happen though.

why not, if its lifted doesnt everything start up? this is the tech age, as soon as the gavel dropped i would have started FA.

Because the owners locked the players out. They chose to not conduct "business as usual." Now they're told that they can't do what they wanted to do... I just don't expect the owners taking this decision that well and going, well I better get to signing players. Unless there is a faction of owners who aren't as solidly behind the lockout as they would all have us believe.

I'm guessing there will be no signings or trade until the appeals court rules on the stay. The owners will just hold off until then I would suppose.
