from his pcl injury. This is why costa might not have been as good as the coaches seen in the 1st 2 preseason games (which could be why our run game has sucked). Costa is still playing with his pcl injury.

Of course miles austin re-injures his hamstring also.

Can we please get these guys healthy asap. Jerry might need to double up on the medical staff.

If they come back too soon, they could get hurt again. If they wait until they're healthy, they're soft and stealing money.

It doesn't matter. Kevin Kowalski is our future Probowl center. :)

I was impressed by him. Right now it looks as if he will get his 1st start vs the Skins

There's at least one scouting service who would disagree with the idea that Costa wasn't good against the Jets.

One grading service had him as the best offensive lineman that evening.

If you want some idea of why the running game didn't click, then here are three names for you...

Kosier- very poor game.
Dockery- slow, slow, slow.
Free- not nearly as good as he was against the Jets.

Such is the whimsical nature of the zone.

In Jerry's interview the day after the Jets game, he said that internally they'd rated Costa very highly after that opener.

I didn't watch the guy closely or anything, but seemed to me Kowalski filled in nicely. I don't remember him getting embarrased, at least

Sounds about right.

I was surprised that Free and Kosier struggled as much as they did.

I had no expectations for Dockery and those were met. ;)

Amazing to see Tyron Smith looking like our best lineman after two weeks.

I also thought Kowalski once again did a great job under the circumstances.

We're starting rookies, second year-first time starters, and Commander castoffs who couldn't make their team on the OL.

Do you really expect us to be able to run the ball much this year?

I'm happy if they pass block well enough to keep our QB in one piece. The rest will come, and these young guys will be greatly improved by next season.

Your joking right?

I know that used to be the official depth chart but that was before Kowalski made the roster. I'd assume KK would start in Costa's place.

And as a couple others already mentioned I was impressed with how Kowalski (a rookie UDFA) has held the fort in the couple times he's been pressed into action.

Honestly, I am pleased by how well this team has played with all the inexperience they have in the lineup in so many spots. The days of simply handing the veteran incumbent his job look to be over. We're a bit over our head right now but I have to believe this approach will pay dividends.
