we need a dominant 1 tech though, its gettin seriously ridiculous, I realize now somethin may be seriously wrong with Billings for so many teams to keep passin on him, but jeez louise enough with the rotational 3 techs already!

1 Techs only play 30% to 40% of our snaps. They only play in base D. In subpackages you will usually have two 3 Techs like he had in 2014 with Melton and Crawford. Thats how you line up 60% to 70% of the time

Im pretty sure this would change if we had a more traditional NT that can take on two OL routinely....

No, thats not how this style of defense is run. Its pure 1 gap, shoot through the gap and get up field. Thats why we passed on Floyd in 2013 even though we had him rated 4th overall. He was a 2 gap DT who we would only play 30% of the time.

We have gotten away from Tampa 2 concepts in coverage some, but not in line play. If you go back and look at all the DTs in the Tampa 2 variants you will see smaller quicker DTs at both DT spots. Both positions are 1 gap positions. Which is why such a high value is placed on LBs particularly Mikes and Wills ( and could help explain the Smith gamble as he is both a prototype Urlacher and Derrick Brooks )

Right, cause you dont have strong opinions about players despite also not being a scout? But touche, its just such a blah pick at best for the 3rd round...Broaddus and Brugler actually mocked him to us, but in the 4th round, not the 3rd........I just feel like we reached for him and Smith both.....there was plenty of superior talent over Collins at that spot....

I would like either of: Brandon Allen, Keyarris Garrett, Mitch Mathews, DJ White, Ben Braunecker, Matt Judon, or Miles Killebrew. They'll pick a guard.

I love me some Jakeem Grant. Not sure how long his body will hold up in the NFL but he's electric with the ball in his hands, I hope we use one of our 6th rounders on him.

The more I think about it the more I want Billings. Just being truthful, I think DE is somewhat of a lost cause as far as real impact goes, but Carolina's defense was so awesome because their amazing interior collapsed the pocket so often. Draft him and line him up at 1-tech behind Thornton while Maliek Collins runs second behind Crawford to close off the run game and keep QBs from being able to step up.

May not be the sacks we wanted to see, but it at least makes the QB uneasy and gives the secondary a fighting chance until the "doping duo" return.

When did Blair become a savior? Is he an actual good player or just a name people know?

I haven't really spent any time researching him. I see he's got some off-field stuff. Looks athletic.

Can Okwara play DE in the pros? I like him a little

I like Brothers at 101.

He's a legit starter at MLB.

he is not he is too slow for the NFL.i am ok with using one of our 6ths on him but we can still get a starter at 101.
