So how did Spencer and Olshansky do yesterday?

I couldn't see the game as I was at work. But I didn't see much on the stat sheet and well.......the Bucs obviously ran the ball all too well. It's great that we won BUTI'm more than worried with the Gspots and loudmouthed Jacobs coming to town.unfortunately, their oline is better than the bucs so...........:bang2: ..what say you?

They did terrible. Didn't you get the memo? Every time Tampa rushed the ball it was a free TD. By the end of the game, the refs were just letting the scoreboard numbers spin like a casino slots reel.

Spencer got good pressure...just a tad late on would have been a couple of sacks. The Bucs ran RIGHT UP THE GUT...so don't think Olshansky was involved

thanks for being a clown "sureletsrace" but giving up 400+ yards to that outfit of which 150+ was on the ground......it's a legit question and thread. If you don't think so..............................get a clue.

The first half I was really worried about the run d. They were obviously very fired up, and Cadillac was running like a madman. Better job in the 2nd half, I thought. Might have been because they were playing from behind. We definately need to shore up the middle before next week. The pass rush was disapointing. They got close, and you don't need a sack to be effective, but....

There were positives & negative around, obviously.

The Positives:

  1. Special Teams...No big returns from Tampa Bay's All Pro returner...3 touchbacks and McBriar...Blocked FG & a 51 yard FG from Folk, as well...All in all, a very solid day for an area of the team that was terrible last season and even in preseason...I was pretty happy with this phase of the team yesterday.
  2. Garrett playcalling...With the exception of a small window in the 3rd quarter where he seemed to abandon the run and try to go for the jugular by the pass, I thought it was a pretty well called game...Really mixed it up a lot and saw some very solid plays that caught Tampa Bay out on many occasions.
  3. Roy Williams...A great start for him to get free like that...Should take a lot of pressure off...I think I saw only one play where there wasn't good timing/communication with Tony.
  4. Any WR not named RW...Biggest complaint, for me, going into this game was the inability of Tony to target anyone other than the #1 WR or Witten...We saw big plays from the other receivers today and that bodes well...Is this something that can Dallas can build on or will they disappear?...I hope we see more of it.
  5. Penalties...Only 4 penalties with one of them a bit nonsensical, IMHO (The Sensabaugh PI/holding)...I never saw a replay of Flo's penalty but didn't it just make you shake your head?...ANOTHER drive killing penalty?...Dallas was lucky to still succeed despite amassing far fewer penalties but the few they had were at bad times.

Negatives:

Hard to believe it's possible for there to be a lot of negatives in a lopsided scoreline but there were.

  1. Run Defense...Granted, Ward & Cadillac are terrific backs but they could run the ball whenever they wanted...Some of it was missed tackles as Ware later eluded to but some of it was simply outrunning the defense through some crater sized holes.
  2. Pass Defense...I haven't seen Leftwich look that good in awhile...Considering he's a new QB there (Looks much slimmer by the way) and they just got a new OC, it's remarkable how easily they threw the ball everywhere...About the only thing that stopped them were the many drops from the Buc receivers.
  3. Pass Pressure...Leftwich hit the turf a lot by the end of the game and that probably impacted the Bucs but for the majority of the game, he had plenty of time to find receivers...I only saw Ware get a sniff once I believe...Spencer the same.
  4. Romo...It's a smaller negative than the others but it continues to bother me that he seemingly can only go to either his first or second option on routes...Never any further and rarely the wide open man...Replays showed, for example, Bennett open on plays where Romo never even looked in his direction...He made a great throw for the TD to RW, right in stride and a nice throw to Austin for his TD but they both appeared to be the primary route on their respective plays...And when in doubt/trouble, Romo seemed to only look for Witten...I thought overall, he had an average game...Not a great game despite having a new career record in yardage (I couldn't believe that stat was true) and the 3 TDs (Let's face it, there were some busted assignments there more than anything)...But, I recognize that I'm particularly harder n Tony than other fans might be...Personally, I thought Leftwich looked better

All in all though, this was a god win...There's still work to do but we saw some good things

I honestly forgot we had Olshansky. I think spencer was getting close to making plays but was always late. Same with Ware I think the injury affected him there.

I don't think so. The ENTIRE defense was late getting everywhere the whole game. We hit Leftwich a ton right after he got rid of the ball. Partially good play by him, but partially because we were a step slow.

I was also disapointed in how open their WR's were.

thats zone for you

hopefully we will play more man next week

i feel there TE was a big reason why we played so much zone

Thanks for the feedback: zone will do that and inadequate pressure will do that. But.......if we were a step slow on Lefty......with Eli coming up? Not good.....AT ALL.

So Igor played basically the same way Canty has since 2005. They are the exact same player.

...And since everyone else won't say it, Ratliff got owned by the Bucs O-line, being pushed sideways and completely out of the hole on many occasions, often by one blocker.

Yeah, it was surprising to hear Spears' name being called out so often yesterday...Guess it must be a contract year

Spencer was extremely actice yesterday. I was shocked with how well he looked even though he didn't get a sack.

We should be fine at that position if he can stay healthy.

you might be onto something there.there were a lot of guys getting wide open in the game.i think they will see this on tape and hopefully romo will correct it.Bennett needs more catches.
