As of right now the #4 pick in the Draft. Here's what I'd do.

1. Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU, 6'1", 220. Point blank, the best CB prospect I have seen since Revis. Is a force in run support, does not get beat deep, and is a PR on top of all this. I would move Newman to FS and ask him to add 10 pounds. Our FS makes less contact than our CBs do anyway. Newman's field vision would help in a huge way.

2. Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU, 6'6", 325.
He is a natural RT and a bull. He can play 4 positions along the OL, but I wouldn't use him at C or LT. Either OG spot or RT. Fill the biggest need and let's regroup that OL.

3. Mason Foster, ILB, Washington, 6'2", 245. Scouting services list him as an OLB. I'm telling you this guy is an ILB. He is a heat seeking missile. You cannot wrong foot him. He and Lee would be a long time tackling duo to be reckoned with. I watched him shadow JaQuizz Rodgers for an entire game and shut him down. Unreal. You heard it here first. I am pimping this guy.

4. Kristofer O'Dowd, C, USC, 6'5", 300. This kid is nasty. He may need a year to get 100% healthy, but when he does look out. He plays mad as hell all the time. In the run game he plows holes open. Freakishly strong and will start at the NFL level and excel. A steal at the top of the 4th.

5. JaQuizz Rodgers, RB, Oregon State, 5'8", 190.
I would let Barber go. I love him, but it is time to use Choice. Quizz as a dedicated Return guy and 3rd down back. He is electric.

6a. Greg McElroy, QB, Alabama, 6'2", 225. I love Ricky Stanzi of Iowa, but not far behind him is McElroy. We need smart QBs who can be groomed. I have no faith in McGee at all.

6b. Steve Schilling, OG, Michigan, 6'5" 305. We need to shore up OL on starers and depth. Period. This is our pick from Patrick Crayton trade to the Chargers. He is 22 catches away form moving up to a 6th for us.

7a. Cedric Thornton, DE, Central Arkansas, 6'5, 300.
A small school sleeper who has a great motor and football attitude. Will start to climb the draft slots by season's end and once he hits he Combines for sure.

7b. Charles Brown, CB, North Carolina, 5'10", 190. We need CB depth and brains and hustle at the position. Don't let this kid's height fool you. He can flat out play. This is our pick from Miami fo McQ.

Go ahead and rip it apart, but if anyone disses the 1st round pick they are out of their minds.

I think Schilling goes higher than 6. Would be happy to have him in 6.

No complaints here.

Peterson would be a fantastic get for our D if that happens.

Only thing I would change is possibly add a S in unless the said Newman move occured.

I think everyone is dreaming of Peterson at this point! I was thinking about that the other day and possibly moving Newman to FS. I'm just worried about Newman's tackling.

I really want Deunta Williams of UNC. I would trade back into the bottom of the 1st to get him. But that means OL waits until round 4 through 7.

Unwilling to do that.

love the Peterson pick. I wanted Revis when he cam out but new there was no way we would get him. Peterson would be good. Nice job

not a big fan of Matt Reynolds saw him play some team he was no beast that game

I rather have Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin - Height: 6-8. Weight: 320

hes got my size at RT - plus then we have a LT backup

I saw this kid play the other day
Richard Lapham, OT, Boston College
Height: 6-8. Weight: 322 - he plays with a attitude

I think we need a slot WR get rid of RWs

Derrell Koulianos Iowa 6-1 #200 – we need a slot WR - this kid just
makes plays - Dez can handle any of RW’s dutys and I mean any

like TE Tony Moeaki, Iowa has for the chiefs

and maybe time to get another TE - boy wish we would have jumped all over that trade with Cinn for Bennett - he is a wash as far as I am concerned
but I really don't see it this year - we need to much to worrying about TE

Even at 4th, would we get to him? Buffalo's pass defense is horrible (114 opposing QB rating).

They are going to take Luck out of Stanford though. Guaranteed.

we might take luck too Hostile, if McGee doesnt show anything later in the year, or trade down with new england for their 2 number ones, and a 4th possibly and take QB from Arkansas

all depends who the top head coach is next year

however, bloggingtheboys, says cowboys are keeping their eyes on top DE's first, then CBs

I would take Peterson any day and smile all day.

Kid pretty much single handedly beat my Mountaineers when we played LSU.

let me ask you this question brain;
if you had the first overall pick, and Luck top QB from standford is there staying at you in the face, what would you do then?

take Luck, franchise QB, or possibly trade down a few spots and take Peterson.

remember now Romo will be 31 next year, that window will be closing pretty soon with him,

dont forget now, hatcher, bowen and spears are all top free agents next year, we cant sign all 3

reports are that our scouts (from bloggingtheboys) are looking at DE's first, then Cbs second

so what would u do Brain

thats why i want to keep spears, and bowen, let hatcher go-he always gets hurt, and keep Igor too,

so we dont have to reach in draft for DE as a need

we allknow we need a CB, possibly S, OT, OG, C

i dont want to reach in this draft at all, for a need, that we can avoid

The Jags will finally go QB early too if one of the top ones is there and he's on their board. Arizona and SF will want a QB as well.

Anyway, Dallas is not getting the 4th pick. At worst (record-wise) we will end up slightly below the middle of the pack.....which would mean picks 8-13 or so. I see us closer to the middle.

There is no way in the world we are taking Luck.

Romo's window isn't even close to closing.

If Luck is on the board we will hold him hostage and force another team to pay through the nose for him.

I honestly think Matt Reynolds is going to end up one of the most overrated prospects in the draft if he comes out. By the time he's ready he'll 27-28 years old.

The only way we can take Luck is if the scouts are CERTAIN that he will be a top 3, HOF caliber player. I seriously doubt we up with the first overall pick, but I think top 8 is very likely.

Trade down without question. Given it is a good trade down ( a few spots) or a trade down that gives us big bounty of picks while still getting a first.

The only time Jerry took a top round QB in the draft when he already had a QB on the roster was the Aikman/Walsh situation and that was probably more of a Jimmy call.

There are a few exceptions but Jerry is mostly a creature of habit and I don't think he would take, and pay, a top of the first round QB when he believes Tony is their starter for the next few years and just signed him to a big contract.

So If there is a top flight DB or O-Linemen there that is rated for the slot I would take them or I would trade down. I would not take the QB right now when I could probably get more in return with a trade down or take a BPA and Needs player.

All of this talk of DE for the 3-4 possibly being taken in the high first is kind of upsetting to me. I know I know we have three DEs on the roster slated to be FAs and we probably would only keep two to three of them max. I just hate to see us draft another 3-4 DE in the first round who is a solid run stuffer but not an impact player when it comes to creating pressure on the QB and Sacking the QB. It would have to be a player that is a once in a decade kind of player, a true difference maker at that slot for 3-4 defense before I would take him high in the draft.

I think we would be better off with a top shelf O-Lineman or DB (especially since our Secondary has gotten lit up quite a bit and our O-Line has been questionable, at best, for some time now).

So...Hope that helps get you to understand where my head is right now.

Keep in mind...it is a loooooong time until the draft. I may change my mind by that time. We might not wind up having a high end first round pick, some players slated high now might fall a good deal and so on. Waaaay to early to put anything in concrete.

Totally understand buddy, but I dont want to take a need player, say if a better player is on the board, take BPA always, never reach. Thats why I hope we keep Spears, Bowen, Brent, Lissemore, and Igor, so we dont have to reach for DE.

Now, I know we need a top CB too, but say the Quinn pl ayer is there say around 4th spot or so, and we cant get the CB Peterson, then take Quinn, can you imagine, Ware and Quinn rushing from both sides.

I have soured on Spencer, personally, I want a fire breathing defensive coordinator, that lights a fire underneath his rear end. At same time, pushing Spears, I think with right defensive minded fire eating coordinator like a Rex Ryan or Jimmy Johnson, you can get players like Spears, and some others to play like they should, but you have to push these players, adn the head coach has to be a dominating type head coach that demands focus, detail, heart, intensity, and that puts fear in the players and oppposing teams.

I dont want a laid back head coach or defensive coordinator. I want a heat seeking bad mannered hostile defense like the Steelers or Jets. Dont want them to play dirty you know, but that teams fear like we had with Charles Haley or a Randy White and Harvey Martin etc... Or kinda like Randy White and Harvey Martin did to Dallas Hickman, best I remember a Commander player after he speared Bill Bates in the back, while on the ground. Randy and Harvey, brutalized, hit and beat up on Dallas the dirty Commanders player all day after the spearing. and refs did nothing agasints them.

And a team that has a swagger, this is our field, and you dont disrespect us.

Kinda like Hostile said last night, when cliff harris said he was on the team, and something like if T O had stomped on the star like he did, T O wouldnt have been able to walk off the field.

I want a nasty defense, with defensive minded head coach that instills his demeanor on the players, that teams fear like the Steelers had in 70s etc... and this type head coach, defensive coordinator rubs off on our offense, and plays like Dez with emotion, heart, and attitude.

I dont know about if Jerry Jones will take or not take a top QB, if Jerry does think there might be a lockout, next year, he might just take Luck, knowing that he might get a top 5 pick too in 2012 too if no NFL in 2011. That way you could rebuild this team pretty quickley and drop some dead weight on some players that arent playing up to their potential.

Remember, thats how we basically rebuilt the team in 89-91, with top draft picks, from hershel walker and steve walsh trades.

With jenkins, felix, bennett (still not sure about him) dez, sean lee, ansah, choice, and a few others, with doug free to, we have some young blood, so you dont need 3 top draft in a row, but maybe 2 in a row, if no NFL in 2011.

Trade down without question in that scenario.

The only way I don't trade down is if I have a deal in hand from a BAD team that wants to Herschell trade for Romo.

If Buffalo has the 2nd pick and it's obvious they want Luck, I would agree to swap the 1st pick for the 2nd pick and Jairus Byrd. We get Peterson (the player we wanted all along) and a starting Free Safety. Secondary issues resolved, or at least greatly improved. Then draft best O Lineman available with the first pick in the 2nd round.

Dream scenario for me.

I love the 1st and 4th rounders it would make that draft hands down
