So if Bledsoe stands up to that Commanders defense, is he back in business?

The Skins love to blitz the hell out of QBs, and our boy Bledsoe has been known to be a finely chiseled immobile rock back there in the pocket. Folks keep saying he holds on to the ball too long, he can't scramble, he's never been the same since Brady took his job, he's always looking to make the big play, and the litany of complaints goes on.

He's facing the type of defense that has been known to kill him in the past. The Skins were one of the top rated defenses in the league last year so they're no slouches. The Skins DC is his former head coach in Buffalo, so no one knows his strengths and weaknesses better.

So my question to you is if Bledsoe has an admirable performance tonight, is he back in business? Has Parcells succeeded in launching him back up the step to the star QB he used to be. I can't think of many teams who would challenge him like this. I say if he gives us a good day out there..... no turnovers, one or 2 touchdowns, better than 60% QB accuracy..... well, I say he's back!

What do you folks say?

I would think so, and it would give us a lithmus test against what we'll see from the Eagles D this season. If our OL can pick up the blitz - Bledsoe will make them pay :)

I think tonight is the exact kind of game Bledsoe typically struggles in. If he is successful tonight, then yes, IMO, that would mean he rather quickly proved his critics and could be back to what he was years ago. I know it's early, but this is a damn good defense and a recipe for disaster on his part.

Remember Parcells talking about making a team pay for blitzes?

Bledsoe and Parcells are going to rock Gibbs and co tonight.

I like how he told a reporter with confidence that "if you play a team a few times, you get the hang of their tendencies" when asked if he was ready for their defense. Sounded like he wasn't afraid at all and knew exactly what to expect.

I won't be convinced until defenses start making adjustments and THEN see how he (Bledsoe) performs.

I'm telling you Bledsoe lit up defenses for 8 games... 8 games to start the '02 season and fans in Buffalo are saying exactly what's being said here... exactly.

It took 8 games in '02 before defenses finally figured out how to stop the Buffalo offense and when it crashed it crashed big time. Bledsoe's passing yards per game dipped 30% and his TD-int ratio dropped to 1-1.

You had better give this experiment more than a couple games before the chest thumping starts.

I just think he has way more weapons than he ever did in Buffalo or even New England for that matter. We'll see... :star:

No chest thumping here Mikey. I'd say if anything describes how I felt about the Bledsoe signing, it's neutral with an N. At the time of the signing, I could see Bledsoe doing well as a bus driver with his old coach, but his recent history left much to be desired. I only bring this up because I'd love to know our offense may be kicking on all cylinders and we can look forward to a great year. Yup, I remember that oustanding first half of the year with Buffalo, but I would hope the key difference is teams have already figured out how to beat him, and would play him this year with that in mind. Hell, the Chargers did. They didn't respect our receivers or QB at all. They gunned in on Julius and Witten, which is what I think any team that watched him in Buffalo would do.

I think we will see Dallas run a lot of draw plays at the Commander blitz and if we are successful doing that it could cause the skins to slow down on their blitzes.

Well I think that's true with all of them, they threw a 3-8 at Manning yesterday, I do think he's got at least a little mobility he scrambled for 9 yards last week early, besides he got NFL Offensive player of the game last week, man thats as rare in Dallas as a sack. Seriously this guy has something left, it may just be his year...

We had pretty good success throwing against this team last year in Game 15 with an immobile 41 year old QB and essentially 1 good WR(Key). This year we'll have our best WR back in Glenn, an emerging talent in Crayton and possibly even Peerless Price. Huge difference in personnel. And if Drew doesn't freeze up under the pressure, he's certainly an upgrade as a passer over Vinny. All Julius has to do is keep running hard to keep the D honest as he did last week vs. SD.

So it's not like we cant function offensively against the Skins' aggressive D with an immobile QB. They're obviously going to get to Drew and sack him some, but at the same time we'll have our opportunities to make them pay for their aggresiveness and test their secondary.

would be a very positive sign for the OL and QB. I think this is a key game for Rob Petitti to prove how he can handle a blitzing D.

This is just one game and Bledsoe will likely continue to be our QB regardless of what happens unless he is injured. Whatever Bledsoe does you can't tell me you'd rather have Tony Romo back there!

So being back in business is somewhat irrelevant. Let's see this thing out over half a season before judging one way or another. Negative play weighs heavier than positive play when it comes to personal judgements. If he becomes a turnover machine then it there's no point in judging him since he will likely be benched or BP will cut his throwing arm off.
