Who's going to be the DC??

I know hiring from within is probable...but are there any others out there that would take the DC job that you would want or that could make the lateral move from another team?

Chances are you looking at defensive assistant coachs. When Payton took over in NO he brought our LB coach Gibbs with him as DC.

To be honest, I really hope we go out and hire Rivera as HC, Garrett as OC and maybe a young guy like Singletary at DC. To me, that would not be bad at all.

I don't think Garrett is experienced enough to make the decision on DC.

Jerry should do it.

I would love that...but I couldn't see Rivera coming into a situation where it would seem that the OC if the future Head Coach.

If Rivera does a good job he's the future head coach. Jerry's not gonna fire a coach who rights the defense and leads his talented team deep into the playoffs.

I agree. He would be better off staying in Chicago if all he was coming here for was to fill in until Garrett took over.

Possibly, but we don't know that Garrett is going to be the future anything yet. I mean, he's only been a position coach for two years if I'm not mistaken. For all we know, he could turn out to be a major disapointment. On the other hand, Rivera could come in here and make us believers. I don't know if Rivera would come in or not but I doubt there will be any other opportunities for Rivera to be a HC this year. He may view this as an opportunity that he needs to take. I don't know. One thing is certain. If he came here and Garrett was succesful as an OC, it wouldn't matter if Garrett was to become HC in time or not. Rivera would have a succesful track record as HC in Dallas and that would get him even more job offers in the NFL.

Yeah, Jerry's too smart a football guy to do that!

You may be right but it really comes down to if Rivera believes that or does he see this as not a good oppertunity given the talk of Garrett becoming the HC.

He fired a coach that won him two Super Bowls.

No, Jimmy fired himself IMO. That street was very broad and went two ways.
