I curious how A-Train is going to handle Thompson starting ahead of him......hummmmm. Personally, I don't care which one of them starts as long as they produce when they are in there, that's all I care about. You can bet that we'll hear the commentators tell us all about Thompson not only making the team, but now starting today as being a local free agent signee.
"starter" simply means they will take the field on the first play from scrimmage - in other words who will be in the backfield on first down. as A-train is better suited to picking up blitzes, he will be in regularly on third down as well as spelling TT should he need it, but i'm sure TT will get his share of third down snaps as well, depending on yardage, field position, etc.
Parcells spoke to him and i'm sure he understands that he is an active insurance policy should TT not be up to the task, and that he'll get his share of snaps, but TT is more the future at the backup spot at least at this point.
its nice to have this depth, where we can pick and choose which back gives us the best chance to compete week to week, including MB3. i expect Atrain to not be with the team next year, as i'm sure he is aware, but no doubt he'll sign on with another club. its early in the season and as we evaluate our young RBs its comforting to know Atrain is on the roster. if it ends up TT or MB3 can't cut the mustard for whatever reason, Atrain can step in. Look at it this way - he's a big improvement over EG...
