So It's The Offensive Play Calling, Huh?

Seems every week someone is unhappy with our play calling.

Time of possession:

New York - 23:01

Dallas - 40:46

That doesn't happen unless the play calling is producing results.

playcalling was fine except for a few here and there (gotta get rid of the SSSLLLLOOOOWWW run to the outside, it does nothing but lose yards).

We won a close one so the play calling was alright.

If we would have lost the coinflip and the Giants scored in overtime, the playcalling would have been horrible.

If we would have won protected the football and blown the Giants out, it would have been a phenomenal gameplan with great aggressive playcalling.

The playcalling down the stretch sucked. I don't care about the ToP stats or anything else, our final two drives in regulation we went into a shell as soon as we got into field goal range. We also ran a prevent D with a freaking 3 man rush when nursing a whopping 7 pt lead to what had been the highest scoring O in the league.

I thought we were fine until the final 8 minutes or so, when it became obvious to me that Parcells wanted to try and hold on for the win rather than simply going and taking it.

There was one particular play calling goof that I still disagree with. When they lined up to go for it on 4th and inches and then didn't. They should have gone through with the play and gone for the TD instead of the FG. That was a pansy *** call on BP's part and it would have won the game for us without all the drama. At that moment it would have taken all the starch out of the Giants but BP didn't have the cajones to go for it.

TwoDeep (and others), I think you are missing the point of why some of us are complaining about playcalling. We are not complaining about the plays called during the first three quarters (at least I am not). My complaints, which I feel are fully justified, are about the bad play-calling occuring in the mid to late fourth quarter usually when the Cowboys have a slim lead.

For the most part, the play-calling in every game so far has been really impressive. If they would stop going into a shell at the end of games, the Cowboys would be a lot better team.

The bottom line to me is that Parcells seems more than willing to trust his defense at the end of games but never his offense unless the Cowboys are behind.

That's the crux of it for me right there. We try to milk a 7 or 13 pt lead instead of playing it just like we have the rest of the game where we built that lead. So we're content to sit and play it safe down the stretch. And I think that makes it tougher to win, it puts more pressure on the D to make big stops when the other team is in 4 down mode and truly desperate, and it lulls the offense and takes them out of rhythm so that if they are called upon to actually try and win after playing it safe for almost a quarter, we sometimes end up with Bledsoe throwing the ball into the dirt (like the end of the Skins game).

16 and 4 tunrovers against a bad defense isnt producing results

although I'm quite ure the ultra conservative, play for the FG at the end of regulation was Parcells garbage, not Payton's
