Coming from very much a "non-capologist"....we are now under the cap just to get by, correct? To afford Spncer, etc. We have ZERO additional to spend and try and lure possible FAs, correct? Then why do I still see all of these speculative articles tying us to these targets?? And not just by zoners' posts, but on espn, Dallas morn news, et al??? Confused here...do we have ANY left to spend or no??:bang2:

I might be completely wrong but I was talking with some buddies this weekend and this was what we were talking about, but he mentioned that the team has to get under the cap at the start of the new league year but can sign players and negotiate the cap until a certain date? Like before the first game of the season? I don't know if that's true but it does make some sense especially when talking about the June 1 cuts etc...

right now we are just at the cap. but, if we re-sign spencer and Romo to long term deals, we can free up 15 million or more in space this year to sign guys.

Romo could careless that Dallas have money to spend on FA this year. His agent is digging in and that is why you are hearing nothing about it.

You can't go over that cap at all after tomorrow. The cap stills only counts the Top 51 contracts during the offseason, but that is it. The League will not approve of any deals unless it fits under the cap.
