So many needs this offseason, more then I can remember

They have to fix their run game or it won't matter how good the defense is. Underachieved or not, they have to figure it out.
And if they don't fix their D, nothing on O matters!!!!!

At TE, right or wrong, the team is high on McKeon.

At LB, don’t forget about Jabril Cox. He was a steal in the draft and was coming on prior to injury. If fully recovered, I expect him to be the #2 linebacker on this team. But I also expect to draft at least one more this year, likely two.

WR will likely see significant turnover. But given how they came up small when it mattered most, I’m OK with that.

DE is likely up for huge changes. I place it as draft priority #1.

Some draft investment finally needs to happen at safety.

Not too worried about nose tackle. That’s down the list in my opinion. We can keep the Jags from last year or find new Jags.

I’m not ruling out Collins at LG as you are. I want my best five on the field.

I saw Farniok play well when given the opportunity but regardless I’d like to improve at center as well. If Linderbaum should be there at 24? I’m surely taking him.

Anger is great, but it’s a punter. I’m not fretting about the position.
Do you think this team can be fixed as is?

No. Certainly not. Given the cap crunch and expected departures, they have to hit big on both the draft and (bargain) free agency.

Or are you referring to something else?

I'm not.

My idea would be to dump as much as possible into this year, including every player who is grossly overpaid. Aim toward the following season. Trying to fix/repair what we have, IMO, is a lesson in futility.

The more I think about the Center position, less inclined to think it's a must need this offseason. They can protect an undersized center with better Guard play next to him. However, don't want to hand him the job either, bring in legit competition. Wouldn't mind a low level veteran signing to compete against him.

I know I'm in the minority here but I see no way that Dallas drafts or even entertains making a change at center. Biadasz was a Rimington Trophy winner in 2019 and last year was more or less his rookie season. Yeah he played 4 games at the end of a miserable 6-10 2010 season, but that was with Z. Martin, T. Smith and L. Collins all done for the season. Last year was his first full season and he struggled. Center is a tough position to play and Biadasz is only gaining experience and strength. I know Cowboys fans are ready to write him off because that's what they do but I seriously doubt the coaching staff looks at it the same way.

I'm with you there. I'm not interested in a bunch of 'kicking the can' restructures to keep a team that underachieved together 'at all costs'. They had their chance and they blew it. No need to mortgage the future to keep that together.

Add in what I feel is a lame duck head coach in McCarthy and I'd rather put the team in better position for the next head coach in '23.

If it weren't for the fact that he looked worse as the season progressed rather than better, I would agree with you.

Yes he did, but then again so did the rest of the team. I'm not into giving free passes and Linderbaum would be an obvious upgrade at the position. I just don't know that Dallas is ready to give up on Biadasz that quickly. I'd had hopes for a new offensive line coach that would have had input in this but alas.

Yeah. McCarthy and Philbin are joined at the hip. He’s here as long as Big Mike is.

And I agree with you that Linderbaum is the exception for me too. He’s the rookie I think they would jump at to replace Biadasz but I can’t say the same for anyone else

Here is my problem. Draft DE, WR, and LG and you get the team to the same place they were last year.
This means they let Coop, Tank, and CWill be gone for certain. I understand CWill, but the WR you get will not be better than Coop. The DE you get will not be better than Tank (and this is without talking about Gregory)-- although the pay for both of them was bad last year. And truthfully a rookie LG will probably not be better than CWill.

While drafting DT, LB, and TE could actually improve both sides of the ball.

So Dallas will do the normal and worry with the $$$$ and not be able to improve the team, just get back to where everyone is happy till they realize there is mediocre play for one more year. I have seen enough the last 26 years to know the normal playbook.

I just think drafting is the upgrade game, not a money game.

So who’s playing DE, WR, and LG for you?

Dallas has +1400 odds to make the Super Bowl. That's tied for 3rd best behind (Chiefs/Bills +750, Rams +1000). Now you know, I know, the world knows this team has little chance to make it there.

But to think they will rebuild/blow it up/start over isn't happening. We have a better chance of a Cowboyszone member being drafted than Jerry blowing this team up. He's about 100 and he doesn't know how much time he has left so we know he isn't going to rebuild or waste a year.

I’m not calling for ‘blowing it up’ but I don’t want to sacrifice the future to keep ‘meh’ together at all costs either. I could survive if they cut Lawrence and let Gregory walk in free agency, provided they could bring in one decent free agent option. They could fill the other spot with a rookie.

I just don’t want to see all these big money contracts restructured to handcuff us again for the future. We’re going to pay a price this year anyway, PAY IT.

Not true. We couldn't stop the run, which was a huge reason we lost to SF.
7 points through 3 quarters is why they lost. Run defense had their struggles, especially early on, but the offense kept them on the field too long.

We don't know where the coaches and front office see him for the future. What we do know is, he had his struggles especially in pass protection and was apart of the problems leading the league in penalties. Perfect world, you bring in competition. Competition doesn't mean using a 1st rd pick to replace him, but a real challenger to get the most out of him. After some thought, I think putting a power Guard next to him, can cover his lack of strength.
