Mind you, the ROOT PROBLEM is that our front office consistently and regularly puts the roster in a position where they are relying on rookies to be impact players. It’s poor strategy.

Let's remember that the world remembers the 3 headed mosnters in OSU last year, and they ranked 1 overall in D playing together on an incredible unit. Down along will not change the culture of this D, and BTW, for those hating on Styles, he looked amazing vs the Iggles...he killed Brakley, and led the team in TFL. But he sucked in preseason...lol. Downs will be fine once he is surrounded by actuall football players guys

I'd say everyone of them played well below than what was expected tonight.....Sure looks like Parker had all of them playing out of position tonight. Barham was on the edge mostly tonight...when he was tearing it up in the preseason playing ILBer.

Downs....Had one big hit....But for the most part was invisible.

But for me personally the biggest disappointment was Lawrence. He looked just like Sam Williams out there...giving away the edge. Losing sight of the football. Looked like nothing like the stud edge rusher @ UCF. I know it was his first game...but damn. That kid has to play better if we are gonna make this defense work. He's the guy that's gonna have be the pressure player this defense needs.

Coaching. It's a cupcake culture.

I get “first games” and all, but I can see why the Commanders opted to select Styles. It was his first game, too. Cowboys get to see him in his second game.

Sure. But he’s also top 10 pick.

Downs was good in his first game too.

But there are going to be growing pains for most rookies is my point. You can’t keep relying on rookies year after year

we put the d in bad spots all night too. Meaning the offensive gameplan was terrible. The plan seemed to be to beat them at their own game. We took the cheese. This is on Shotty. Our bread and butter is up tempo passing, spreading out defenses making them guess. We did none of that. We were very milk toast and predictable. We are not a ground and pound team. We are a fast break offense predicated on us passing first THEN the run.
