I'd say everyone of them played well below than what was expected tonight.....Sure looks like Parker had all of them playing out of position tonight. Barham was on the edge mostly tonight...when he was tearing it up in the preseason playing ILBer.

Downs....Had one big hit....But for the most part was invisible.

But for me personally the biggest disappointment was Lawrence. He looked just like Sam Williams out there...giving away the edge. Losing sight of the football. Looked like nothing like the stud edge rusher @ UCF. I know it was his first game...but damn. That kid has to play better if we are gonna make this defense work. He's the guy that's gonna have be the pressure player this defense needs.

Lawrence? The guy challenging Downs for DROTY?

I saw them all make a play or help make something happen, but it wasn't game changing at all. We will see how things go next game

I'll give those guys a pass for now and honestly at least Downs/Barham showed a couple flashes. Expecting rookies to come right in and be impact players is a big ask which I've tried to say all offseason, but just get called a hater. These guys should get better as the year goes on. My bigger concern is your big acquisition like Gary, Winters, etc were no shows for game 1. This team needed to add actual talent through FA and once again chose to go the cheap route and pick up players other teams were giving away at discounted rates. I think both can be better than what we saw last night, but its not a very good sign.

Downs played better than most want to give him credit for in the aftermath of the worst defensive performance I can recall ever watching.

You're only saying that because they can't possibly get worse

lol. Way before the season started in another thread I said there would be growing pains and they’d come together on the back half of the season. Offense was bad too, couldn’t run the ball

I’m not putting this on the rookies, where was this vaunted highly paid interior defensive line?? They were manhandled by an average Giants line.
