So much talk about Downs. Are we overlooking our other 1st rounder?

Lawrence is pretty well-known for having good hands and technique. He's not really that raw.

All of the talk is about Downs, and how much of generational player he is due to his exceptional mental capacity. We know he's a play maker and will help this defense. Somehow it seems that we're forgetting about Lawrence who was our first round pick as well. I can see a lot of good things coming from this kid, what if he made more noise for us than Downs??

Doesn't really matter as long as these guys are ready to play and have a successful season. Get this defense to be respectable and get key stops for us, please give your input!!

I think we will see splash plays from him and then will disappear at times as well. Not many pass rushers come in and are Micah like.

Most college pass rushers have only one or two move at best and rely on strength and quickness

which is why the vast majority do not shine as rookies

I don't think pure strength works in the NFL like it used to. They'll have to get him some NFL techniques, especially arms/upper body.

MLaw is the real deal.

My biggest concern about Lawrence is that he's got zero power. As a speed rusher, he's got all the physical tools, and a shockingly deep bag of moves for a mid-major college guy. There is not much projection to that part of his game. But he doesn't have a bull rush, and he doesn't win working inside of tackles either. He's got outside speed down, but that's about it, and NFL tackles usually don't struggle with one-dimensional rushers.

I think he'll be a Dante Fowler sort of guy. Maybe a better version, cause he's an even better athlete than Fowler (who on measurables alone, had ZERO business getting drafted top five) and he's a better technician than Fowler was coming out of Florida. But I think he projects along the same line.... speed rusher who can't become a true sack artist.

Fowler's still carved out a 10 year NFL career as a situational pass rusher, and I think that's MLaw's floor. It's higher than people think. I know he's a small school workout warrior, but I think his game is already too developed for him to outright bust. I'd guess that Fowler would be a 2nd round type of player if you knew everything and re-drafted his class today.

For MLaw's ceiling... I don't think this is the likely scenario, but if everything clicks, he's Robert Mathis.

One trick pony that wants extremely badly to become the next Osi Umenyiora one trick pony outside speed rush guy but he'll never reach that.
I'm thinking career jag while hoping for a Dorance Armstrong ceiling.

Lawrence will likely take some time to learn. He wasn't dominant in college.
