So sad; we should be running away with NFC East

Very easy? At least 4 teams that are better than they are, and every team very capable of beating them.

The problem for New York, as indicated by their record against the last two division winners is really the story. Simply...they have an offensive and defensive line that are both below the level of Philadelphia and Dallas. They can't protect and they can't pressure...a recipe for eventual disaster. That is one of the reasons why McAdoo was brought in...to mitigate Manning's interception rate via shorter drops and shorter routes. This has the additional benefit of allowing the coaching staff and FO to "get by" on more marginal line talent. It has been unsuccessful and the 1-9 record against Dallas and Philly is the proof in the pudding.

Bradford throws 3 INTS and the Eagles still win by 20 points. Incredible, and a definitive indictment of the state of both lines in New York. That does not change with the return of Victor Cruz. Pundits think that Cruz will suddenly make the Giants all-world, but they are refusing to address the underlying issues that continues to dog New York. If your lines ain't right, then you will have trouble beating your more talented division opponents.

The best case for Dallas ultimately prevailing as repeat champions, is their prowess along both lines. Suddenly, their front seven (if it stays healthy) is the best in the division. When you can roll out a 3-2-6 against Brady and bloody his nose for 30 minutes, you are on to something great. Who would trade the suddenly sieve-like 4th quarter Seahawks defense (2-4) for the Cowboys at full strength? Well..scratch that until we see it in action this Sunday...but you get the point. They have the potential to be very good if they can stay healthy.

But for injuries, we'd be smoking these clowns. The whole division is terrible.

I agree that we'd probably be running away with the division if we were healthy, but I disagree that our division is terrible.

Eagles 3-3
NYG 3-3
Dallas 2-3
Commanders 2-4

If Dallas were healthy, they'd probably be leading the division at 4-1, and then the NFC-East would be the only division in the NFC with 3 teams currently at .500 or better... The AFC-East is the only division in the NFL that currently has 3 teams at .500 or better... The NFC-East only looks bad right now because the best team in the division is not pulling its weight because of injuries, but it's actually the Cowboys who are responsible for the division looking bad at the moment...

Nah it's pretty terrible when you watch the quality of play out there.

I'm of the belief that you should have to win your way into the playoffs, not by getting help. You get in by getting help, you get trounced quickly. Otherwise, you have a chance.

The Giants schedule is looking very easy the rest of the way, and we have Cassel for the next 4?? So we would be lucky to be in it by the time Romo returns. We should take a page out of the Steelers book and take out Cassel in favor of Moore if he struggles at all.

Moore...you are kidding right?
And what have the Steelers done for us to follow their doings? They had to play their 3rd stringer because 1 & 2 were injured.

Giants schedule not all that easy, not as easy as they have had it, they beat Commanders, Bills, 49ers, what have they done. Though Commanders and bills aren't that bad. Commanders been playing hard actually.
after us, team sthey could lose to, they are at Saints, who have been playing better. NE, at Commanders, Jets, at Miami [maybe a win here], Carolina, at Minnesota, which could be a tough game too.
Then home against Philly.
Only game that looks to be a win is at TB, and I question that after watching them play last night.

Not all of it was injuries. We failed to replace some of the FA's and coaches defections. We did with lesser talent. It's still early, we can turn the ship around. At least we got the major injuries out of the way early.

Yeah. I agree. And , other teams are going through injuries as well.. Part of being a successful franchise in this league is dealing with injuries. If you cant do it, you simply dont win. end of story. Injuries are not an excuse.

Steelers , down to their 3rd string QB, beat the 5-0 AZ Cardinals. Beat SD in SD. GB loses nelson...etc etc ect.
Injuries are not an excuse.

Let GB play without Rodgers and Nelson..then all the pundits will be whining and crying that is why they haven't won.
Take Brown out for Steelers, see what they say.
Still not an excuse, but it is a HUGE reason.

I think both were out a few years ago when Flynn beat us.....

It should be in the top 3 or 4 things to acheive as Franchise Goals.

How are we addressing injuries? What is our approach? etc etc etc....all that stuff....Becuase wishing it doesnt happen, isnt going to work. We have done a horrible job at doing that. But so have other teams. AZ lost it when Palmer went down. etc etc....

It just cant be an excuse anymore. The franchise has used all of its excuses in the last 15-20 years. They arent alllowed to have an excuse anymore....:):)

The Rams won a SB with a backup QB, so did New England. Baltimore benched their starter in 2000 and went on to win the SB. It hasnt happened lately but it's not imposible. The impact of losing your starting QB and WR like it happened to us is compounded by the lack of talent in the backup players. Injuries happen, and I agree with you that we can't rely on wishfull thinking as a contingency plan.

Having said that, it still early and there's a whole lot of football left to play. We're still not out of it.

Maybe so but on the flip side because Philly, Wash and NY are not great it is allowing us to stay in it and get healthy so we can make a run at them.

Yeah half a game back. Wins over both the teams in front. Both still have to play the Pats. Three best players have missed 12 and 1/2 of the fifteen possible games. Obviously the team, players, coaches and management all suck and even though injuries are the only cause, you and your ilks bitter ramblings can all be bandied about as absolute truth.

Yeah with Romo and Dez we'd likely be 4-1, at least 3-2. We must get wins vs New York and Philly to effectively own tiebreakers. I'd feel good if we can win the next two.
