I'm usually all for BPA, but unless the team doesn't see Tyron playing past 2021 I can't see how they target an OT.

The balance of resources and cap dollars is way out of line as it is.

While it would be great to start either one of those guys at LG while grooming them for an eventual LT takeover, how exactly are they even supposed to get better defensively when they refuse to take FA seriously?

Other teams are getting away with one high pick and a bunch of mid to late round types on the OL.

We on the other hand need all high picks and/or big contracts along the OL, a 40 million dollar QB, and three stud receivers....yet can't stop anyone on defense.

Again, I get the whole BPA thing....and can't pass up blue chip thing....

Maybe I just wanted them to realize that BPA was almost definitely going to be an offensive player at 10 and sign some real FA on defense.

Oh wait....they think they DID that. Got it.

You play Sewell or Slater at LG, and you have a freak show on the left said with Tyron plus Sewell/Slater. Connor is gone in a year and Tyron doesn’t have much left with those back/neck issues.

Finally glad you posted this. My opinion is that if either one is still available, he should be the choice.
In the last decade the selecting, coaching and development of first rd o linemen is the ONE thing this team has proven to be good at.
In TWO plus decades, this FO has failed miserably at selecting, coaching and developing defensive top picks.

So unless they are firing the whole defensive scouting department I think these type failures continue. There's just something missing organizationally at matching the right defensive player with the right scheme and proper coaching. There just is. It's a mystery to me long overdue of being solved.

AND another tight end or zone corner will not impact team wins the way that another elite o linemen will.

Tampa's d line won the trenches against GB and KC. Both GB and KC backup o linemen were a primary reason for the losses.

Dallas backup olinemen were dominated in their own division by WFT and NYG starting d linemen.

It's still a game won in the trenches.

Once Smith or Collins goes down again and the whole Steele, Knight, or Neske(sp?) backup takes over, it will be obvious again.

Slater or Sewell should be the pick imo.

Anything can happen, but when you do the process of elimination, the Cowboys should still get a good player.

Believe 4QB’s is a lock, someone is going to take Fields in the top 10. Could see 1 wr slide but not two. If we are on the clock where 1 is still there, we should get trade back action. So 4 QB, 1 TE, 2 WR, 2 T that is 9, where no defense has been picked. Surtain, Parsons and 1WR can all be there, if 3 WR go ahead of us, 1 Tackle could fall.

If San Francisco does not take Matt Jones at 3 then all bets are off. By the way I think the Bengals take Sewell at 5. There whole offensive staff what at his pro day. They seemed quite pleased with him. I don’t believe those Chase rumors that some reports are coming out with.

I don’t want to open another thread about this topic but Bucky Brooks made a good point about drafting the offensive linemen before the wide receivers in this draft. He believes the 2nd cluster of receivers that you can get in the second round are closer then the second cluster of lineman. He also makes a point of questioning how good Smith and Waddle are. He does not think they are strong enough to be outside receivers. One of the posters made a mock were at 10 we would only have chance at Jaycee Horne, Smith, Waddle and Tucker. I think that is a possible outcome. Now the poster only had 3 quarterbacks drafted in the top 10 but you never know.

Sewell always made the most sense for the Bengals. You gotta protect your franchise QB.

In that division you face Watt twice, Garrett twice, and that Ravens defense twice. Pesonally Sewell is a no brainer but we’ll see...

To be honest just don’t see it with the big 3. I see that Kiper, McShay and Jeremiah have the 3 receivers in the top 5 of overall players. None of those three receivers are exceptional at anything. Maybe Waddle is fast but he did nothing at his pro day. The last time I saw him he was limping off the field in the championship game. Smith ways 170lbs and is really skinny. I question his speed. Chase is only 6 foot tall and his LSU teammate had a similar pro day then he did. I would only take a wide receiver in the top 10 if they were Megatron or Julio Jones talents. I think if Marshall LSU wide receiver is drafted to the right team he would be better then all these guys.

I agree with you on Smith and Waddle. Not on Chase. Size is where he doesn’t measure up to guys like Jones or Megatron. But he’s fast, powerful, runs great routes, and has tremendous hands. He’s better than Marshall and Jefferson that was drafted last year. IMO he’s elite.

Chase the best of the big three but I don’t think he is better then Lamb who we got at 17. Cooper was a better prospect coming out of college. I don’t think he is as explosive as OBJ coming out of LSU either. Playing with that talent at LSU and Alabama makes those guys look like the greatest receivers ever. I don’t agree with any of that as it relates to Chase. But we’ll see when he gets to the next level.

In general WR are going to head toward where RB is now. Not fully, but in that direction.

They are starting to become easy to come by.

Off topic but I'm not sure a guy like Gallup gets huge money in FA.

Totally agree. I think Gallup will sign an extension in training camp.
