Can't wait till the Cowboys play the skins again. This time they'll play for 60 minutes. I don't usually go to other team's boards to talk ****, but I will be doing so after the next Cowboys/Skins game.

Enjoy the short stay at the top..the Pie Hole seems to be buzzing with optimism. Now that our nightmare 2 game road trip is done, we shall return to FedEx field and reclaim our rightful spot at the top of the newly competitiive NFC East. Blew Dedsoe, Gerry Tenn, Keyshauns "tiny" Johnson, and Fartsmells tremble at the mere thought of facing us at home in the frigid december air for the the division crown. Bring it on Pies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm, you couldn't beat above .500 teams in those 2 games, and in the last 2 games, we have, and you're talking about climbing back to the top? stupid deadbeat deadskin fan

nope, although calling Lemar Marshals imaculate INT a pass interference didn't help. you can't go to ArrowHead and put the ball on the ground 3 times and not create any turnovers yourself and apply little to no pressure on Green and expect to win.

The Skins haven't created turnovers or put any pressure on the passer this entire season... they're minus 8 in turnover margin (after FIVE GAMES), and have all of 5 sacks (after FIVE GAMES)...

The Cowboys have 20 sacks, in 6 games... they also have 30 quarterback hurries... THAT'S what a pass rush looks like...

Looks like you guys will struggle all season to create turnovers and sacks, and of course it's hard to win big in the NFL without the ability to do both... and things will only get worse when the injury bug bites, as it inevitably will...that's when Dallas' clear superiority will become apparent, they have much better depth... in fact, the Skins have next to no depth...

I am loathe to jump into this thread, simply because one of us started it. Smack begets smack, and frankly, I've found the majority of posts in this thread rather entertaining. Trickblue's response in particular gave me a chuckle. Nice to see you all defend your turf so vehemently. I expect no less.

However, I'm having a slow moment at work and maybe with your indulgence we can take things down a notch for a second. I've read a few things I found interesting, and want to discuss if you all don't mind.

Our inability to create turnovers is hurting us, to be sure. However, I'd like to point out that we have forced just as many fumbles (9) as our opposition. However, while 7 of our fumbles have been recovered by the other team, we've only recovered 1 of theirs. I would submit that forcing fumbles is a factor of defensive prowess, but recovering said fumbles requires a bit more luck. It's an odd shaped ball that bounces in odd ways. Right now it's not bouncing in our direction. If we continue to match our opponents in forced fumbles, and I see no reason why we shouldn't, I suspect the recoveries will find their way into our hands eventually.

On top of that, our top CB who lead the team in INTs and sacks last season has been out for the past two games. I don't know why you think we have avoided the injury bug this year, but his absense was keenly felt during the last two road games. In fact, for the Denver game we were missing both of our starting corners. Kinda hurts a defense that likes to blitz from the secondary. Anyway, we should have them both back this week, if not next.

The Cowboys have 20 sacks, in 6 games... they also have 30 quarterback hurries... THAT'S what a pass rush looks like...

Another weakness of ours. No arguement. However, noting that a team is not perfect does not prove that they are terrible, or a pretender, or that things will inevitably get worse. Should I now claim that because Dallas can only muster 3.2 yards a carry that they will be unable to sustain any amount of offensive success this season, which is now compounded by not the theoretical loss, but the ACTUAL loss of a top offensive lineman?

Lack of pass rush has hurt us. But it is not a fatal weakness. We have still held every offense we've played to fewer yards than their season averages. We are still eighth in the league points against per game.

Again, WHEN the injury bug bites? In addition to our decimated secondary, we've got Portis playing on one leg. His backup has been out for the past two games, which is why Cartright got (and then dropped) the ball in KC. Noble's gone for the year. I know you all here think little of him, but he was a great fit for our system, and a valuble contributor to our top five defense last season. Our kicker's been hurt since about week two. Now that by itself is no big deal, I guess, but keeping two kickers on the roster hurts our depth elsewhere. When Hall comes back in a week or so, that will open up a roster spot.

We will know soon enough if your claim of Dallas' clear superiority in depth has any validity, won't we? Judging from the praise (or lack thereof) lavished upon Adams' replacement, the early projections look less than stellar. I guess we'll find out real soon in Seattle.

In any event, your prayer for more Commander injuries does little to further your case that our team is not as strong as our record indicates. The football gods don't look at past weeks and say "gee, the Cowboys are banged up enough. Let's injure a Commander this week." It's the same for every team, every week. Your Cowboys are still just as likely to suffer another season-ending injury as the Commanders are. You don't get a pass because you lost someone this week. Really, you sould be worrying about your own depth right now.

This is not to say your standing at the top of the division is undeserved. Parcells has your boys playing like I thought they'd play last season, and you have as good a shot at winning the division as anyone. For my part, I am encouraged by the fact that the Commanders have played the toughest schedule in the league to date, and have come out of it a half game out of first in the division, undefeated in the conference, and with a nice road division win under our belt. This does not mean we are taking the league by storm, or are the heir apprent to the division crown. But we are in the mix and I'd think Dallas fans, of all people, would know better than to take us lightly from now on.
