at least i woke up thinking that. draft day has always been a major focus for me in the past but over the last few years, i've just not been into the mocks to know where things are going or headed. who the MUST HAVE players are and who are the ones to avoid at all costs.

then who lines up behind which players to say THEY are the ones we must have. :) i swear the reactions to the draft to me are as much fun as the draft itself. when we drafted frederick i was like "um...who?" and then did some research and was excited.

you see, ever since bledsoe was here i thought very vocally at the time we needed a MUCH better line to put up with the american "captain slow". instead we put in romo and he made the line look good and people forgot about it. well, i really didn't. first year or so of romo i loved it! LOOK AT HIM SCRAMBLE!

then we just saw it too much and year after year we got the pretty lights but we never got a solid base to put them in.

then we drafted frederick.

later on we passed on the fools gold in manzell and took martin.

oh my god i knew then the focus on what at least i felt was important was also now their focus.

the C grade fill-in free agents were done, at least for here.

so - i'd take RB off the board but after that, BPA. go for the value. or simply draft the best pass rusher to fill a need.

either way some will be mad, some happy, and no one will know for sure for years despite saying they know all too well now.

for me it's just like christmas cause i get to wait and see what we do then go figure it out.

hope we have another good one.

The only problem is that mom and dad have a lot of kids to keep happy at Christmas time and sometimes, you get the hand-me-down gifts so others can get better things....

...but, I take this Christmas analogy as the most exciting day of the year....the intrigue, the possibilities...will we get the shiny new toy that we won't have in a year or two (whether it breaks or becomes "non-flashy") or the gift that will last a while and that you build upon?

Well for this Draftmas, as stated above...to me, it's not the main present you want or get (1st round). It is about the overall haul you get...the overall 4 or 5 presents (players) are greater than the main one. Because if your main one isn't what you hoped for, but can live with, because the other 4 or 5 or 6 very well make p for it.
So as a whole, is better than the one.

This year I have no particular player just as long as he helps the team overall, and the 3 or the first 4 are on defense. Prefer maybe even the first 4.
However a slight trade down to get a few extra presents, even if one of them won't get opened until this time next year. That will make it a better Draftmas.

Sometimes you get what you want. Other times you get a lump of coal.

....and sometimes that lump of coal is transformed into a diamond. Ive seen the "best" picks flop and the "worst" picks shine. We all have our favorites but in truth you cant judge a draft until years later typically. Although Im with you, Id rather not get coal. Last year had to be the funnest draft in a long time. This year will likely not live up to that billing, but I cant wait regardless!
