I finally got around to watching the Vikings at Panthers game from Sunday.

At one point, the cameras showed a rare crowd shot. I was kind of amazed at what I was looking at.

Here it is:

We can all fault Jerry for lots of things he's done, but a half empty stadium for a home game isn't one of them. The Panthers, by all measurements, are a successful franchise right now. But unless I'm seeing things, that stadium looks half empty for Panthers home game.

I took this screen shot in the 3rd quarter when the score was 10-8 Panthers. Unless 1/2 the audience is in the restroom or buying a hot dog at this moment, I don't think this stadium was actually sold out, as the official figures claim:

It just looks funny to me.

Later in the game, 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. They've avoided crowd shots for the most part EXCEPT during kickoffs. As the Panthers receive this kickoff, we get a good look at the stands on one end of the field. That stadium is nowhere near full.

It was like this the entire game, so it's not like the crowd gave up and starting going home already.

Reports: Protestors could be trying to block fans from Panthers-Vikings game

The decision was made to go ahead with today’s Panthers-Vikings game, despite an uneasy week in Charlotte following the police shooting of Keith Scott.

But even if the game is played, there might not be a full house at kickoff, as reports have emerged of protestors wanting to disrupt the flow of traffic into Bank of America Stadium.

According to Adam Rhew of Charlotte Magazine, protestors in uptown Charlotte are putting out word they hope to block enough traffic to keep players and fans from entering the stadium as normal by disrupting traffic on I-277 (which circles uptown).

Hey, Im honestly not trying be be a weenie here, but you missed the point here.

The Panthers have one of the very best fan bases in the NFL.
They have a tremendous home crowd...WAY better than we have as far as home field advantage and crowd noise.

They sell out every game and are near the top in attendance every year.

This was ALL about a middle downtown stadium and a city under curfew last weekend.
They had even considered moving or cancelling the game it was so bad.

I honestly had not considered the effect of the rioting on the game attendance. I'd heard the last few days, things had gotten peaceful. It would be a real shame if a lot of people that bought tickets to this game passed on attending due to protests.

It's right down the street from the idiocy of a few nights earlier.

People were scared.

The Orioles had to cancel their games after their protest/riots.

Both stadiums are right next to where the riots occurred.
