Yeah wth? So I'm driving down the road and my cellie rings and it's me. I don't know what's weirder, the fact that my phone called me or that I saved my own name and number in my phone??? o_O:lmao:

(I did that when I first bought the phone, not sure why.)

Anyways so I answer and it's some automated recording asking me to enter the last 4 digits of my social..

So I hung up on myself, I blocked myself, and then I rebooted my phone, cleared my cookies, history, etc, etc...

Can't make this crap up, damn hackers!!!!

Should I call AT&T or The FBI??

looks like a hacker robo call where they fake or "spoof" caller IDs - apparently faking out caller IDs is relatively easy

https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/getting-calls-your-own-number

"It’s like a scene out of a strange sci-fi movie. You get a call, look at the caller ID, and see that your own number is calling. Weird! No, this isn’t an alternate reality where your future self is calling the present you. It’s a scammer making an illegal robo call."

2015? They took 2 years to hit me up..:(

Do you believe in alternate universes?

Astral plane?

"There resides at all times a reflection or echo of your astral self upon the astral field. This doppelgänger, unless you are a master at meditation, is continuously doing things seemingly independent of you."

Wow, pretty strange, CowboyFan74. Maybe you could call AT&T and let them know about it. I have never had that happen, but a few days ago, I did get a call on our home phone, I said "hello". A robot voice said my name, in the form of a question, like it was wanting me to say, "yes this is she", but instead I demanded "who's calling?" I got no response, so I repeated, "who's calling?!". Still no answer, so I hung up.... It just so happens that a few weeks ago I read an article online that said you should NEVER say words like 'yes', 'I agree', etc. when speaking to an unknown party on the phone, because they can use your words that they are recording to manipulate into false conversations that give them "permission" to gain access to your private information, like bank accounts, to get loans in your name, and such. I can't prove this is what happened in my case, but it sure makes me wonder, the way it never responded because I never said, "yes".

Word of advice is just for everyone to be very careful. I think you did the right thing in your case, CF. I'm glad you had enough snap to realize it may not have been innocent, nor official. Sad to think that some folks, like young people or elderly, may not realize until it's too late. :(

I assume you entered that info so you wouldn't forget your phone number.

I get SO many spam calls these days that it's ridiculous.

Crazy that would phone systems are so antiquated that this is even a thing.

I once had a scammer call me pretending to be DirecTV and offer an upgrade. I actually believed him till I said no thanks and he stopped me by demanding, "Why?!" I didn't want a better deal.

After that, I said, "Hold on, who the F is this?!" and he hung up.

Ridiculous.

Now I won't even pick up the phone if it's a number I don't already have saved.

Its not hackers. Somehow your cellphone got on a call list. Todays telephone systems are capable of out pulsing any phone number with a couple of clicks in a computer window. Kind of cruddy but I have had it happen to me, I ignore it, but that is because I know how its done.
