So we went from having Pat Summerall calling our games to Thom Brennaman?

him, tom jackson, and chris berman have some silly beef with us for some odd reason. i'd prefer this guy and his monotone voice never do a cowboys game again.
Well Berman is a Bills fan so he probably doesn't like Dallas, but I've always thought he's at least been fair. Tom Jackson is one of the best, I don't think he's ever been anti-Dallas. Now, he's one of the guys who thinks that Dallas plain stinks, but I think he has legitimate reasons for it...not just dislike.

I will never in a million years understand the passion some fans have about who calls the game.

I bet easily half the time I couldn't tell you the day after who called the Cowboys game on Sunday.

It's a homer defense mechanism. If you pretend the media hates you, you can use that when needed when the truth hurts.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when ESPN hated us because they said the Cowboys beat the Eagles with three non-offensive touchdowns after the game where the Cowboys beat the Eagles with three non-offensive touchdowns?

OMG! HATERZZ!!

I actually like Brennaman usually, they did the Baltimore game too.

But he's from Cincinnati, I think he was letting his bias show through a bit today

Im not even sure he's anti Cowboy as much as he is just lazy and just finds a narrative and beats it like a drum. It doesn't matter if Romo's QB rating in 150 in December, if the media narrative is that Romo is poor in December then the first incompletion that Romo throws Brenneman will just be beside himself with disgusts and indignation "This is what you get with Tony Romo in December, folks!!" You can see it on the 3rd and 1 call with Garrett. Brenneman came into the game with a narrative that Garrett was an embattled and controversial head coach, and therefore we should all question his play calling and he found an opportunity and pounced on it. The fact that the play didn't work had nothing to do with the playcall, in fact Romo had a wide open target and the drag crossing route and just missed him ... but Brenneman wouldn't let that get in the way of his narrative.

In other words, just a guy who's really lazy at his job and does no background work or thinking for himself. Which I guess is kinda status quo for the career C- students that make up sports journalists, just wish he would stick to his job as a play by play guy and leave the color analysis for Billick ... the guy who's paid to be a color analyst. But it just seems recently the modern trend is you get these egomaniac fatheads like Joe Buck and Thom Brenneman who feel the need to bless the world with their keen insight and provide their knowledge on the game too , and they usually come off sounding like complete meatheads more often than not.

I'm sure every Rorschach inkblot reminds you of some "homer" fan. Dude, you are nothing but consistent, like an OCD autistic kid who has to restrap his velcro shoes every 5 minutes.

What annoyed me was when Brennaman implied that Newman was a better player than Carr this year.

Not a ridiculous thing to say.

I miss Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshier doing the games. They were the best team.

Thom Brennaman is maybe my least favorite announcer. He also happens to be a Cincinnati guy, which didn't help this week. The constant little digs get under my skin. Like saying we got 'embarrassed' by the Sk*ns on Thanksgiving, when that turned out to be a pretty good game in the 4th quarter.

I think he's just decided to take the anti-Cowboys position to get some attention. Some of these guys intentionally play good-cop/bad-cop because they know the attention is better than being forgettable.

Yeah, that was another dumb one. Given the respective situations. Carr shut him up today, though. Newman, too, in his own way.

It wasn't long ago that I really like Brennaman as an announcer. I liked it when he'd replace Buck who was on the baseball playoffs. But this year it really seems he wants to rip on Dallas. Yes, I caught the 3rd and short criticisms too.

And yes, Buck is one of those who thinks we want him to do color too. Uh, no, Joe & Thom, just the PBP.

Liked Billick again today. But Brennaman, no thanks.

I'm surprised Thom couldn't give us all a detailed breakdown of the difference in systems that play off man vs. press, and how Newman fits into both, given his wealth of football knowledge he has to provide to the world.

Billick's pretty good. I like most of the former head coaches. Except Tony Dungy. Most of them have actual insights into the game, or that at least gives you an idea how they used to run their teams.

Can't wait until we can get alternate audio tracks with actual coaches and scouts breaking down the plays in a lot more detail, in real time. I'd listen to that, all day, any day.

Oh, I don't know. It's something the bandwidth can probably support now, so, as soon as there's a big enough market to justify the added expense, I'd guess. I'm just talking out of my rear-end, though. I've heard certain movies are shot with alternate camera angles; I imagine that's coming to sports eventually, too. The alternate audio tracks should be relatively straightforward by comparison.
