So we've got (at least) two roster spots open at RB

with T Thompson gone and JJ most likely gone.

(I don't think we lose MBIII.)

I thought we would be in the market for 2 RBs this off-season.

I'm hoping we take 1 in FA (Moore, D Ward, for example) and then 1 in the Draft. I wouldn't think either Moore or Ward would break the bank either. As a Special Teams and RB alternative, I think R Cartwright would be interesting as well.

Cartwringht, Duckett and Ward are all decent backs. I dont how many of them are willing to play third fiddle though.

I'd rather draft 2 rb's in any round between 1-5

If we end up drafting a RB in the 2nd or 3rd, for example, like Choice or Forte, it may be o.k. with having that type of backfield. In any case, it would present solid competition.

I'd like to have 1 veteran RB behind MBIII who we know can pick up the blitz, etc. in case the rookie needs time to get used to the pro game.

Id take any of the three of them and a draft pick. To me

Barber
Stewart
Cartwright

would be a dream come true.

Cartwright could really help on returning kickoffs as well, esp. if Austin is no longer around (i.e., we draft a WR or two) and since TT is gone.

We are spending too much $ on running backs, lets see what Alonzo Coleman can do from the practice squad.

Exactly how are we spending too much money on RBs? We only have 1 from our 53 man roster from last season, and he's making about $2.5mm in 2008.

That said, we should definitely throw Coleman into the mix.

Been saying all along we need to draft a RB and sign a vet RB in FA.

You're a very smart man, big dog. I like your way of thinking. :)

don't forget Melwende Moore and that guy from Miami, can't remember his name, but he's 230 and has quicks

that, or we could draft Chris Johnson and Ole Miss' BenJarvus Green-Ellis :)

RB Chris Johnson and FB/RB Peyton Hillis in the draft is what I'm thinking.

People should be worried about our 2 open CB slots more than the RB slots considering we still have one very good RB on the roster right now and not so many good CB's.

Jesse Chatman.

I like Cartwright, always have... he'd be a good kick return option...

I also like Tatum Bell, he might be an even better fit, and again, is a fine kick returner...

Now, here's a question for you-- what if Jeff Fisher was serious about taking a run at Marion Barber, even at a first and third round tender?? Do you let Barber go for that kind of return??

My gut says no, but at the same time, the Boys could go one of two ways if Barber did wind up a Titan:

1) They could try real hard to sign Michael Turner in free agency, then draft a running back in the second round range (Jamaal Charles??)...

2) They could package some of their draft picks to move up to draft DMac, then go out and sign Bell, or some other second tier veteran free agent...

The Boys have a number of options here at running back, all of which are reasonably appealing... the McFadden scenario might actually be the least appealing, because of the cap impact drafting him would involve...

I see Dallas going into next season with: MBIII, a rookie (1st day pick) at backup and a developmental guy as the third string back (maybe Coleman off the PS or an undrafted FA like Thompson was). I don't see them picking up a FA.

There was no vet backup to Julius Jones in his second year, it was a rookie fourth rounder named MBIII and undrafted rookie Tyson Thompson. History will repeat itself in this case I believe.
